Would like suggestions for route with a couple of overnight stops -avoiding Paris - from Zeebrugge to Château de la Poinsouze Castels site near Montluçon please. We are towing a caravan.

Either via Rouen/Orleans or via Reims/Auxerre. Spread a big paper map on the floor and choose. Overnight stops to follow when you have decided. Cheers.
Troyes is lovely - spare a whole day to wander in the old town. The city campsite is fine too - Camping de Troyes. Looks like 250 miles to get there from Zeebrugge , and 200 miles onward from there to Montlucon. Take care.

Thanks for prompt reply!
We would like to go via Troyes as first stop and looking at the following overnight sites:
1- Camping La Chenaue near Laon
2- Le Garillon nears Radinvilliers
3- Chaâteau Epervière near Ginny sur Saone
Sorry, but don't know any of those three sites, but why not go for it. Sngle overnights don't matter very much, do they. We always start the day with one in mind and invariably stop at another. Have a good trip.
Thank you - we are taking our time getting down to Poinsouze so actually not really overnighters- probably a day travellling steadily then a couple of nights at each stopover.
Have you stayed anywhere along our route which you recommend?
Can I ask which route you're now planning, because Chateau l'Eperviere at Gigny sur Saone isn't on any of the Michelin recommended routes, and seems a long way out of your way.
From Troyes it would seem logical to head for Auxerre, then Bourges, then St Amand Montrond and on to Boussac Bourg which is the nearest small town to Chateau Poinsouze.
we stayed here, Kawan Village Camping lac d'orient - Rue du Lac 10140 Mesnil Saint-Père - Tel: 03 25 40 61 85 about 30K from Troyes, nice site across the road from the Lake

In that case instead of trying to choose the "best" campsites choose the interesting places you want to visit on your way south. Perhaps Arras (the Grande Place), Epernay (for Champagne tasting), Troyes (as already mentioned) , Auxerre (a fine old town), some of the pretty Burgundy villages (e.g. Semur en Auxois), Chatillon sur Seine ( the treasure of Vix in the museum), Apremont sur Allier (one of the prettiest gardens in France), Bourges ( the cathedral and the chateau) and so on.
These places may not have the "best" campsites in the review pages, but they all have perfectly adequate, clean, well run campsites for short stays.
