Hello, just after great suggestions on best small family campsites in Italy. We are driving down from Switzerland to Naples so we would like a stop off for a week in the Region of Garda (Our favourite lake is Ledro, but it is booked). Any hidden gem campsites anyone can recommend in that area or any en-route down to Naples? We dont like manic campsites! and like to be near some kind of swimming area!

Are there Municiple sites in Italy? Are there any campsites where they dont take bookings and just turn up? Be great to hear from anyone with advice.

Thanks so much!

-------------
Helen

Most Lake Garda campsites are fairly large and are very popular, so just turning up without booking might be risky. However, ACSI lists 5 small family sites - see www.greatlittlecampsites.co.uk for details.

We've stayed at Baia Verde, Manerba del Garda which is medium-sized (80 pitches) and very pleasant. We didn't book, but weren't there in peak season. Lake Iseo is smaller and quieter than Garda and might be worth a try.
