Hi all, just over a week till we leave!! We are heading towards Alps and are away for over 3 weeks so no urgent hurry to get there. Is there any must see places on route that people recommend, I've got a book of beau villages that might visit but that's all. Got the dog with us so obviously that excludes some places! Thanks in advance, the help is always invaluable.
Oh yes, we are travelling from tunnel ! First night booked at Les erables where we did last night last year, we've got a late afternoon train this time.

Hi shropshiretan, I`m not sure if it counts as a must see but if you have children with you it might be worth planning a meal stop at the services with the giant chicken https://www.lefrancophoney.com/the-big-chicken/ It always amused our kids when they were small and even this winter driving past (without the kids) I took a photo to share on whats app with them (now grown up and all over the world) It will always be a talking point in our family and a trigger for conversations full of happy memories!

Do you have an idea where in the Alps you are going? It might help narrow down the "must see" places.

Yup, Beaune is not to be missed. We go to the Alps at least once a year and Beaune is our preferred overnight stop. Good parking in the centre and the Leclerc has the best wine selection we've found in France.

Ken

Yes, all those...plus the GrandePlace at Arras, the old town at Laon, a diversion to Epernay, the museum at Chatillon sur Seine, the Dukes' Palace at Dijon, several Burgundy villages, and the scenic route over the Juras if the sun is shining up there. ....
