Returning to tenting after quite a gap and looking to go to south Brittany near the mouth of the Loire. Just the two things of us in our 60s so would like good facilities and ideally a hook-up pitch a la caravan pitch in order to run a small fridge. I'm afraid we've grown used to such luxuries while we've been caravanners!
Any recommendations very gratefully received.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Many British visitors like staying at Ferme de Lann Hoedic at Sarzeau which has the facilities you are asking for, plus free wi fi and English spoken at reception. From 27 August it will cost you 15 euros a night if you have an ACSI Camping Card. But as every campsite in France has electric hook ups plus decent toilets and showers you actually have a wide open choice, depending on the particular location you choose. Good luck with it.
The only part of the Loire I really like us up near Saumur. Le Chantepie is a fabulous site, we often use it as stop over and the way down to Bordeaux. We generally try to avoid Brits when in France so that we emerse ourselves in the culture. The further away from Brittany and the north you get the fewer Brits you'll see, unless you go to the Cote D'Azur which is a bit like the Spanish Costa's with the NEW MONEY Brits...Of course all these experiences can vary depending on the time of year. The Brit families go home last week August and France returns to a less frantic vibe.

I'm still not sure which area you are asking about. Your heading says the Loire, but your question asks about south Brittany. Can you give us more of a clue please for location.
Le Chant D'Oiseau , Mouliherne, north of Saumur is a great favourite of ours. Meal nights, pizza nights. Campers kitchen with cooker, micriwave, kettle for tenters, free to use... check it out on reviews here.
We camped further into Brittany at La Trinite - the whole Morbihan Gulf area is just gorgeous for seaside pursuits and historic towns such as Vannes and Auray, but I have also visited Nantes on a work trip and it is a really beautiful city surrounded by lovely farmland, so well worth checking out any recommendations for sites in that area.
Le Croisic is a nice little fishing village literally at the mouth of the Loire, close to the walled town of Guerande and the big seaside resort and beaches of La Baule. There are a few sites around but we stayed at and enjoyed the smaller La Pierre Longue (not in UKCS), which is a 20 minute walk to the town of Le Croisic and beside a bus stop from where you can get buses to Le Croisic, La Baule and the train station (for Nantes).
Note this is in the Loire-Atlantique department, part of the Pays De La Loire region, not Brittany. Farther up the coast in Brittany around Carnac and Trinite sur mer is also nice.
We spent a few days near Trinite Sur Mer, it was lovely, really small campsite on the edge of a forest.
Camping Du Lac, Kerlearec, 56340 Carnac, France
Perfect for cycling running. Not a place to go sight seeing as there is only Carnac. We also visited Auray which is a world heritage site and pilgrimage site dedicated to St Anne, the Patron Saint of Brittany.
It didn't feel very French, partly because there were so many Brits and the fact that it was relatively flat and had no grand chateaus or vineyards.
We are used to Burgundy, Bordeaux, Provence...but we did find a part of Brittany that we liked.
