Campsites in Mediterranean France have been evacuated and campers forced onto the beach in the middle of the night following out of control bush fires on hillsides near St Tropez BBC Radio 4 report this morning.
As fires came closer to the campsites campers were woken and asked to assemble on the beach at 2am this morning.
------------- Enjoy the liveliness of the syntax.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I posted about this yesterday in the post about fire at La Croix Valmer/Ramatuelle - friends live in the area and they were evacuated to a local Public Hall. I can't get hold of them now, so just hope that everyone is alright.
There are other fires raging along the Mediterranean coast, so anyone heading in that direction (from Toulon around to Ste Maxime/San Raphael should check their destination isn't affected.
Sorry, didn't see this thread so just started another. Update from the Guardian.
I'm wondering how things will be down there after the fires have been extinguished. Not sure we'll want to be heading there next month when we go back.
