Has anyone stayed at Aquarius Camping not far into Spain, in the Gulf of Roses? I can't find a listing for it on this site but they have their own web site.
I wondered what it would be like for children (boys 4 and 7)? Will there be plenty of other children there to play with? Any advice on pitches to choose etc?

Pitch away from the front, seems to be popular with Germans, good sprinkling of other nationalities. Straight on to beach, will get windy around dinner time.
Never been in August, but would imagine loads of kids there.
Been there a few times with my boys aged 6-16 in August. Campsite is next to the beach - cross the coastal path that runs alongside the campsite then short path through dunes to beach. Beach is very safe since it shelves gently, large and uncrowded. In the morning sea is flat but as the heat builds up so does the wind and waves which children both young and old enjoy. There is a small water-park for young children - good place to make friends. Usually lots of children of all age groups - it is a family orientated campsite. Good shop and restaurant, some entertainment, spotless facilities. Probably 90% German. Campsite is very popular so if you want a particular pitch you may need to book 1 year in advance, especially for the large A pitches nearer the path/beach. We have stayed on pitches all around the campsite and all are good. Pitches in the older part of the campsite (northern 2/3 rds) have more shade - check it out on googlemaps.

Front is very popular, gets crowded, get the wrong pitch and around 1pm you could end up with you tent/awning rattling and flags that flap and crack.
It does not overlook the beach you go thru a gate cross a path/road (very quite), and from memory there is no pool. there are other campsites in the immediate vicinity. Was 7 years since we was there.
I have been around 15-20 times as a child and as a parent. My kids are all teenagers, but have demanded that we go back this year after a break of a couple of years
It is my favourite site in the world (we have camped at other sites). It is ideal for kids of 4 and 7 - it is so safe that you will be happy for your kids to have some independence, even though they are young.
The majority is German, it is owned by the Rupp Family, who are German, since 1972, and they take massive pride in the site - for example, there are lots of really well tended flower beds, a herb garden (where you can pick herbs yourself). The site is maintained to a really high standard. There is no swimming pool, this is not because the owners are "cheap" but because the owners are against swimming pools - a few years ago they did ask regulars whether they should build a pool, and the response was an overwhelming NO.
There will almost certainly be English kids on site - English are probably the second largest group after the Germans - sometimes it is easier making friends when there are not too many of you.
This year we have found out that 3 other families who we know really well from previous years will also be returing at the same time at the end of August.
Each toilet block has a full time cleaning team - as a result they are spotless
Windy conditions that makes flags and awning rattle, as described in a previous response, are pretty rare, but we did have one year (2006 I think) that was quite windy, occasionally the Tramontana blows, which only lasts a day, but can be strong
No pitches overlook the beach as there is a very tall hedge separating the site and the beach
