Much prefer La Bouysse next door although our days camping in the Dordogne are over since we now live here.
I have to agree

Also noticeable how much the bankside in front of the hedge by the waterside pitches has been eroded - a good 6ft since we moved out here in 2018 - places where the path used to be have gone.
If erosion continues at the present rate then unless SP do some serious shoring up of the banks, the riverside pitches might be in danger of falling into the river in about 5 years.
It also endangers our favourite river swim from just upstream of SP down past the river beach (all the sand has gone) to the La Bouysse canoe site.
That erosion must be recent, we were there in September and walked along that path. I have to say that we did not like the site at all and left early - - I felt that the owners were solely interested in the static business and that the camping pitches had been forgotten. The pitch we were allocated was ankle deep in mud so I returned to the office and told them, and we found another that was a bit drier. 30 minutes later someone else arrived and they had been given our original pitch, even though the receptionist knew it was un-usable and there were other pitches empty. It was a shame as I had heard good things about SP, I got the impression that in a few years it would all be statics.

If it is now owned by Tohapi then it will be heading towards all or mostly statics. They took over a site we use at Montalivet. CHM & the camping pitches reduce year on year replaced by Mobile homes & rent a tents.
I have just looked back through my reviews and we were at Soleil Plage in 2008 (how time flies) and had a lovely time. It is so sad when a lovely campsite is taken over by a big chain and they ruin it. This site has always been on my list of places in France I would like to return to but maybe not anymore!

I absolutely agree. We used a site on the Mediterranean, which was family run, and everyone loved it. It was very popular, with people going back year after year, like meeting old friends. It was so popular that the owner received an offer he couldn't refuse, and sold it to a chain. Within a year standards had gone down, staff numbers cut, mainenance neglected, shop range vastly reduced, burgers and pizzas replacing traditional dishes, and more mobile homes introduced. Now, apparently, it is even worse, with people saying 'Don't go there...' We haven't been back!

I don’t understand the switch to Burgers and Pizzas on some sites. A site we regularly used in the Loire switched to Burgers and Pizza in the on-site eating place (I refuse to call it a restaurant). A couple of years later an independent restaurant opened just outside the site gates serving good traditional French fixed price menus. It was so funny to see the site eating place virtually empty every night while all the campsite patrons were queued up outside the independent restaurant at the gates waiting for a table.
One of the best sites we have ever stayed at in France didn’t have a restaurant but they had a traditional French dish of the day every day which was freshly made on site and you went and picked it up at a designated time and brought it back to your pitch. It was the best ‘take away’ food I have ever had.

That sounds lovely. Don't suppose you'd give us a clue? 😉
If you mean the best take away food site, it was Camping Pyrenees Natura. It’s been quite a long time since we were there, probably 10 years, so I don't know if they are still the same but it was a great site back then.
We stayed at SP in 2018 and really liked the site overall.
On arrival staff asked if we wanted to book a table at the restaurant but we declined however, when we arrived there later it was full.
We did eat there a few days later and the food was excellent.
Biggest plus for us was the really nice pool area.
