After 6 years camping in france we are going to head to spain next year for a week before heading into france for two

Plymouth to Santander ... camp for a week then drive up to lacanau for 2 weeks

Looking for recommendations for camp sites near Bilbao or along that coast - MUST have a pool and be great for kids ages 6 and 10

There are a couple of nice campsites at Zarautz on the way to San Sebastian.

We stayed at Playa Oyambre which was nice but if you are used to high quality French sites, the sites in this part of France are not the same. I would say that most we saw were similar to the French 3 star sites which is what we like but we didnít come across anything like the French 5* sites on our travels along that coast a few years ago.

Playa Joyel in Noja. It has pool and great beach with good surf but shallow.

May - Peak District

August/Sept - Salou

We've stopped at Zarautz, twice, but only because we had to! Not really a site we liked, though useful for 'doing' San Sebastian ... a must ... best taps bars in Spain?

I'd question you focus on the area east of your ferry landing ...

Of course Bilbao's Guggenheim museum is a 'must see' (even if you don't go in) ... but the best parts of the north coast are west of the ferry ports.

The unmatched Picos De Europa are superb ... many little coves and fishing villages/small towns along the coast are lovely ... possibly the best being Cudillero.

If you browse my reviews you'll see several in that area of Spain ... we keep returning ... and will be there again next year.
