We had been told to get his blood test done for the rabies vacc and did so. It came back as still covered but apparently have to have a health check now when we hope to travel late November Can anyone tell me if they are in the same position and are going in November as we are not sure if we can due to Brexit. SO confused.

Advice from our vet yes you need a health certificate two weeks before you go also you may not need a health certificate as no ones has maxe there minx up yet where of not it is needed. Who lnows our vet thinks Will know by 1st november or possibly later when eu has,decided what they want make sure your rabis is less than a year old as the frence vets are,still saying its .ot legal u.less itz unxer a year old, lucky for us ours was done in may so that bit is ok.

We e had our dog’s blood test done, now have to get the certificate of fitness to travel- if it’s required - after 3 months. Nobody knows what’s going to happen. I spoke to DEFRA who had no idea. The woman I spoke to just kept repeating what was on the web site, regardless of what I said.
We go mid October and I’m doing nothing different than I have done previously with regards to the dog, also Sennen, rabies jabs given in UK last for three years not one, jabs given abroad last 1 year. (Different strength of vaccine?). Our friends paid over £500 for their two dogs and nothing happened!
I know thar rabies last for 3 years but we had problems earlier in the year in France because of it being nearly 3 years old. I have a feeling that whatever happens after Brexit all rabies jabs will become yearly as we are being told by different vets that it needs to be yearly. After speaking to our vet he felt that although it last for 3 years it will become a yearly vaccination . I hope I am wrong but I doubt it it's all about making money.
If we got our dog a French or Spanish passport it's the same vaccine but has to be done yearly so that would mean we would have to go to France every 12 months.
That’s the first I’ve heard of it changing! Why a vet would say it lasts for three years but would need to be a year is not about making money? I’ll just wait and see what happens
I rang about our dog today and was told yes I can have the blood test done but which one as EU hasn't decided what test we need, and the certificate to travel haven't been decided on. Come on Brussels make your mind up, the advice given in the end there would most likely be a period of grace till eu decides what to do.

It's not up to Brussels it is up to our Government.
If we leave with no deal we become an unlisted country, rules for pet entry may differ if we leave with a deal or don't leave.

Why? you could have your dog vaccinated in the UK.
It's not up to our government about us taking the dog into the Eu that's bit is down to the EU our government will only have a say on dogs being brought into the UK.
No not according to French vets it needs to be done in the country of issue.
Sennen, my dog was rescued from Italy and had an Italian passport until it was full, the rabies jabs for the last 8 years of the passports validity were done in UK and lasted 3 years each time, I then got the dog a UK passport with all the details transferred over, so imho your french vet is talking guff...... rabies jabs can be given in any country and recorded in the passport
The EU apply several different rules for entry of dogs into the EU,if we leave without a deal different rules apply,the UK pet passport will not be valid a different passport will be required.
If we become an unlisted country the pet passport will not be valid.
