We camped on Lake Constance in the town of Friedrichshafen. It's on the north coast, diagonally opposite the town of Konstanz. The area had plenty to occupy us, such as the Zeppelin Museum (Count von Zeppelin came from the area around Konstanz), a lovely town and castle at Meersburg and a neolithic 'stilt' village (houses built on stilts over the lake). You can also get a boat across to Konstanz itself - can't recall the price but it was reasonable.
This was where we stayed
