Portsmouth Caen is usually cheap. We have used it for several years. Its also the best crossing for getting to the Dordogne in my opinion, and very much quieter than Dover Calais

Via CMHC, if you include 4 site vouchers (£80), travel on the 14.45 out, and 8.30 return, the ferry element of the cost, has always been below £200 (2019 was £179). That was out at end of April, return end of June.

Just done a quote for 2021, out end April, back mid june £315, inc 4 vouchers worth £80, and includes a 2 berth cabin each way!

We did Portsmouth / Le Havre on the away out last time we went, but its the coming home in particular that Hull is really convenient for.

Gutted still but will look at what doing Rotterdam/Hull would mean to us. Perhaps it will encourage us into the Netherlands or Denmark to holiday....

Another vote for Tesco and Eurotunnel. Plus store your caravan in France. Amazing savings.

Hi thechief
I will miss the mini cruises Hull to Zeebrugge, we had one every February, spending a day in Brugge.
I live in Stockton, we used to drive to the ferry in one day.
Now we have a leisurely trip, we overnight at Cambridge(4 hrs drive) and take the tunnel the next day about 2pm. Next stop is Camping St Claire at Neufchâtel-en-Bray (2 hrs fromTunnel)
Next day via Rouen to wherever.
Our usual next stop is Salbris , 200 miles
We too use Tesco vouchers.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

We’re also in Stockton so would do the same journey jsparkes201148. We have done all kinds of crossings including Dover/Calais, the tunnel, Portsmouth/Le Havre, Folkestone/Dieppe but that journey back from Hull makes the return so much more enjoyable. We’re waiting to see how COVID/Brexit go before making firm plans this year. We’ve loads of Tesco points so tunnel looking most likely if we do venture across the channel.

Only just twigged that Hull to Rotterdam is still running! Gives us a useful alternative to Newcastle Ijmuiden from South Scotland!
