Glimmer of hope?

XVI yes?

I was excited until I saw it was in the Express. They probably got the info from Diana's ghost.

Still too unstable I'd say, hence I have made the decision not to go over to France this year.

Good luck to everyone hoping to travel to Europe this year!

Maybe the question should be "will we WANT to get to France this year?" From what I keep hearing the situation with Covid over there is much worse than it is over here. I don't think I'd want to even if it was a freebie.

Septemberís a long way off.

A lot may change over the next few months. I think we must be patient before deciding on vacation or staycation. Those of us who are retired might benefit from both?

Best thing about a caravan is you can start with a staycation & still book a crossing at short notice & go to France if it is possible.

Thatís my thinking billy but not everyone is that fortunate. I still think it is very unlikely that France will be possible or even allowed, however we can hope.

New mutations and other presently unknown factors may come into play. Itís good to chat about the possibilities, but only if France gets the vaccine roll out progressed and cases and deaths drop to levels that might permit travel. Draw in the horns and be patient.

I think if we'd been flying in for a weekend a European break is feasible, but a road trip travelling through several countries, each of which could have a 'spike' resulting in a lockdown just isn't worth it.

The problem with camping in the UK is the risk of overcrowded sites filled with some really ignorant types that would rather be on a beach in Benidorm or Tenerife......
Right now the Hebredes is looking like a good option. We haven't been up there for 28years.

I know where you're coming from CAT. We moved home just under a year ago and think we'll just enjoy settling in. The caravan is still in storage in Brittany and I don't need a week in Benidorm to get me through this year. I had enough of airport aggravation in the past and don't miss it one little bit. As for being ripped off doing UK holidays - I'll do without that as well. I've lived and learned from past mistakes.

We would normally set off in May, that is obviously out this year, but early Sept might still be possible. We might go and camp in Kent and have a few days in France if possible. I'd rather be sat on the site we use in Cayeaux sur Mer with limited contact with others than at a packed site in the UK.

The other thing that stopped us going last year was OH's cancer treatment. Hopefully he'll be fit to travel in a few months.

I wonder how the traffic light system will impact on travel insurance?
