Just had a look at my ACSI book and noticed that some site we have used regularly in the past. are no longer in the book.
In particular, Camping Beau Rivage in Meze Southern France. It might have changed hands.
Their website shows the cost for one night in mid September as 35€ 30.
I don’t think they will get many takers at that price in September.

It does cost quite a lot for a campsite to be in the ACSI scheme so perhaps some sites think it cheaper to go it alone. I don't know about the site you mention but could it now be part of another grouping of sites? A lot of sites are also going over to static accommodation so perhaps another reason not to spend money on the ACSI scheme?

Yes David, i wonder if they all pay the same amount.
Some of the smaller sites we stay at are often very quiet when we are there in Spring and Autumn, it wouldn’t seem to make financial sense to be in ACSI.
The site at Meze is now part of a group i think, it has been fairly busy in low season with ACSI guests but, like me they won’t pay €30+ euros a night.
The site at Salbris is no longer ACSI, but at least she still charges ACSI prices.

While im sure the sites get custom out of being in the ACSI, how many nearby do you come across whilst travelling to the site in the book. Often, i have checked out the approach to sites on Streetview, come across another nearby, checked it out and found it preferable to the actual ACSI site, and stayed there instead. Yes, ACSI sites can be cheaper, but not always better than whats nearby.
That said, there has to be some gone to the wall with Covid. As they were ten-a-penny in some places.

We too have noticed that sites we have stayed on and consider visiting again are either no longer accepting tourers or not in ACSI.
We use the ACSI guide as our starting point and go from there sometimes using all ACSI somtimes a mix.

Re Beau Ravage we stayed there back in 2010 using Camping Cheques and would not consider going again at their current early June price of €32 a night especially as there are as good or better sites still in ACSI.

Just checked and it's still 14 Euros; prefer Loupian to Meze. We've cycled past and had a look at Beau Rivage, but weren't that keen, prefer Loupian. Last time we were there, September 2019, we were there at the weekend of Patrimoine and got free entry into Villa Loupian, that should appeal to you, Stuart Very interesting it was too.

I watch New Life in the Sun a lot.

It's surprising how many Brits take over a campsite and then buy yurts and teepees, or erect wooden cabins. The prices for a night's stay are (to me) unrealistic as you can often get good B&B for a similar cost.

They don't appear to welcome tent campers either as the profit isn't that good.

Still plenty of sites in France taking tourers of all types.

Well I'm glad to read that. Too many sites moving away from casual tents, renting yurts/shepherds huts, and booking in advance etc. Planning the route spoils things for us, as you never know what the weather will be like. The old style municipal sites with no frills suits us best, as you can stay at the site en route without worrying about booking a place.
