I hope that the UK maintains very strict protocols for returning to the UK from an Amber or Red country as we certainly do NOT want a third lockdown due to some irresponsible people!

Hi Ian, We are all different, but I am curious who the “irresponsible people “ are?
If people are allowed to go why are they irresponsible??

I have seen many comments to the effect that people will not venture abroad until “it’s safe”, but that will mean very different things to different people and some may never feel comfortable doing what the previously took for granted ever again.

For those that do feel OK, and comply with all requirements, going abroad should not be seen as irresponsible.

If people are travelling to countries on the Amber list then, according to Boris, it should only be for absolutely essential reasons so I would say that to travel for holiday reasons could be deemed irresponsible.

So If I go to France, I've been vaccinated, I follow all local restrictions, I have a test for entry to the UK, I do 10 days isolation and have 2 PCR tests while in isolation and it is not against the law, so how is that being irresponsible? Oh sorry, because Boris said it is, really?

Those who go just for a holiday are irresponsible.

I will be going on compassionate grounds, as a matter of extreme urgency.

I have run out of cheap wine.

Then why is in not banned?
Since last March there have been many situations where the rules/advice/guidance has been confusing for many.
A quick Google search will show how some ministers are saying it’s Ok , or that “people need to exercise common sense”.
We have moved from the “it’s banned” period and there will be some who decide that they will exercise that “common sense”, will comply with all the requirements and travel to amber list destinations once able to.

I feel your suffering Stuart.

Lidl have a gold medal Beaujolais Villages on offer at the moment - 2.66 euro per bottle as long as you buy half a dozen. Which I did - and now having had a bottle with a roast chicken this evening will be buying a couple of dozen more tomorrow.

If one uses common sense it is easy to define the irresponsible people in our society who only think of themselves and are obviously happy to welcome another lockdown.

We love going to France and Spain, but it will be put on hold until things have settled more.

My son lives in a country with far less COVID than here in the UK . His country regards the UK as very risky - so when he goes back home from UK at the end of May he will have to spend 21 days locked in a hotel room at his own expense.

If the UK government regards France as very risky then they must take firmer action against people returning from there - not just “advise against going there”. Amber warning ? That’s just talk.

It seems that you view anyone who does not agree with your view as irresponsible.

I have been clear that I do not see people who comply with all the restrictions/requirements as irresponsible, as I have to presume that if allowed to go that’s OK, but, as put well by others, some think that travel is irresponsible because they they would not do it.
