Just in case you've been living under a rock for the past couple of days, Fully vaccinated travellers arriving in ENGLAND will be able to take cheaper and quicker lateral flow tests from 24 October instead of the PCR tests currently required. And about time too
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Just out of interest, does that mean you can use the free ones you get from pharmacies, or do you still have to get them from a registered supplier? And will the Passenger Locator form with the test reference number still be required?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I booked a travel package for Departure and Day 2 PCR tests earlier this morning, and have e-mailed the vendor to enquire if I could change the Day 2 test to Lateral Flow Test and get a small refund, as I have yet to book the Day 2 test being so far in advance for 22 November 2021.

AFAIK, the freely available LFT tests from NHS cannot be used for Day 2 test.
And yes to the second part of your question, again, AFAIK.

You will have to pay and get them from an agreed supplier, the govt. will be announcing those suppliers in the next few days apparently.
No mention of that anywhere I could see Billy, although I would expect that to be next.

A question I cannot find the answer to. Is on the date of the changes tests before we leave France or other EU countries being abolished too ?
Looks like it, this document seems to say you only need the pre departure test if you're not fully vaccinated?
Ah, so that appears to have been since the 4th October?

We are going to Spain in a few weeks, we have booked and received the day 2 per tests for when we get back, the price was reasonable so its not worth trying to change them.
You don't need a pre departure test now just a health declaration to get into Spain and your proof of vaccination.
Same for return, no test but the passenger locator form with test references on.

Correct, no test needed before leaving France etc for the U.K. since 4th October. We came back on the 9th, so just needed to show the passenger locator form at check-in at the ferry port, in addition to the usual passports. Very pleased at one less bit of red-tape and saved quite a few euros too.
Cheers all for clearing that one up. With luck we might get reasonable day trip prices returning before Xmas. We hope for the return of the £25+6 bottles of wine offer from P&O but won’t hold breath.

It has been suggested tests could be sold at Lidl. Not far fetched as packs of 5 tests were on sale in Lidl in Holland when we were there last month.

Pre-departure tests (for double-vaccinated travelling EU to UK) were abolished from 4am on 4th October. We travelled back on that day.
I was concerned the Passenger Locator Form wouldn't be amended until that time and date (to remove pre-departure results) so didn't attempt to complete until day of departure, when the rules changed.
Whether the lateral flow testing really will prove much less expensive or much less hassle for returning travellers will remain to be seen.

Just speculating but, I wonder if it's acceptable to use lateral flow OR PCR (if PCR already booked) when the changes come into play?
