I see that France is tightening up the requirements for visitors from UK, from Saturday:
“travellers from the UK will have to show a PCR/antigen test less than 24 hours old (as opposed to 48 hours until now). Only French citizens returning from the UK, or British people living in France, will be allowed to come to France. Travellers will have to give a compelling reason to be allowed to enter the country. People arriving from the UK will have to isolate at a location they choose, their isolation will end after 48 hours if they show a negative test.”
I really hope this doesn’t mess up with anyone’s Christmas plans. Stay safe!
'...from Saturday, people coming from the UK will be required to have a negative Covid test of less than 24 hours.
Once in France, they will have to self-isolate for a week, but that period of quarantine can be ended after 48 hours if they have a second negative test once in France.
Compelling reasons will be needed for entry, which includes visiting family - but not tourism or non-urgent work reasons.
The new measures apply to everyone regardless of whether they have been vaccinated.'
The rules don't appear to have any exclusions, apart from freight, so I would think that for travel through France they would apply the same, the rules specifically refer to entry into France.

I’ve seen the question asked on whether you can transit through France to other EU countries. Does anyone know?
Don't see anything about a change, but as you need a valid reason to get into France I doubt it's doable at the minute.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

It's not. We were planning on driving to Switzerland but cannot do that now.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
One of the conditions of entry is if you are in transit in France for less than 24 hours. Not entirely sure what's necessary to prove that but driving to Switzerland is still doable from what I'm reading
NEW - FRANCE COVID-19 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Travel between the UK and France from 18 December 2021 until further notice.
From Saturday 18 December (2300 GMT Friday 17 December), all those wishing to travel from the UK to France, regardless of vaccination status, can only do so for essential reasons, as defined by the French authorities. French nationals, as well as residents in France, are considered to have an essential reason for travel.
The full list of what constitutes essential travel is on the French Government website (in French). This list is also available in English on the French INTERIEUR.GOUV.FR website. https://www.interieur.gouv.fr/Actualites/L-actu-du-Ministere/Certificate-of-international-travel
Travellers should be aware of the following requirements:
All travellers must present a negative PCR or antigen test result taken within 24 hours pre-departure.
Before travel, anyone coming from the UK must provide contact details, including the address they will be staying at, to the French authorities via an online form.
All travellers must present a completed international travel form to prove the reason for essential travel. This can be found on the French government’s website. In exceptional circumstances, the French Consulate in London may be able to assist with travel for a compelling reason not listed as an ‘essential reason for travel’.
All travellers must provide a completed ‘sworn statement’ (déclaration sur l’honneur) form self-certifying they are not suffering from symptoms associated with coronavirus and have not been in contact with confirmed cases in the preceding fortnight. This can be found on the French government’s website.
Upon arrival in France, all travellers must self-isolate for 48 hours, after which time a negative PCR or antigen test is required to exit self-isolation. Without a negative test result, you will be required to self-isolate for 7 days.
You should not use the NHS testing service to get a test in order to facilitate your travel to another country. You should arrange to take a private test from a private coronavirus testing provider. Test results must be certified by a laboratory to be accepted.
Adults travelling from the UK to France by Eurotunnel who are not fully vaccinated will be asked to take an additional COVID-19 test upon arrival at Eurotunnel Folkestone (vaccination status will be checked ahead of departure from UK). Anyone testing positive for COVID-19 will be subject to mandatory self-isolation for 10 days.
HGV or van drivers arriving in France from the UK are able to continue doing so without providing a negative COVID-19 test to enter France.
Transiting through France To/From the UK
Transit for less than 24 hours in the international zone of an airport is listed under “essential reasons” to travel.
Travel from outside of the European Union (except UK from 18 December – see above)
All travellers (aged 12 years or over) travelling from outside of the European Union to France must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result from either a PCR or antigen test.
Tests must be taken no more than 48 hours before travel for fully vaccinated travellers and no more than 24 hours before travel for those who are not fully vaccinated. Test results must be certified by a laboratory to be accepted. See the French government’s website for further information. We will update these pages as soon as further details are confirmed.
Non-vaccinated arrivals from the European Union must show proof of a negative COVID-19 test result taken within 24 hours before departure.
France has a colour-code system governing international travel to and from France. There are four categories of measures: green, amber, red and ‘scarlet red’. ‘Scarlet red’ is a new category introduced in response to the Omicron variant.
As long as it’s sorted by June then all good for my 90 day French ration. Seems to be a pattern developing. Bad in winter good in summer repeat for evermore.

Do you not fancy doing the "Schengen shuffle" to stretch it out for longer Billy? Croatia looks good in the summer, that's what I'm looking at doing and before anyone asks, no it's not a dance
Hi Roy. Yes I did consider it but probably this coming yr just have the 90 in France. I am getting lazy in my old age so probably Dordogne & nearby coast is far enough now. The plan always was to buy a mobile home on a site on the south west coast that we have been using for decades & spend 7 month summers there but sadly now kyboshed by events so carry on caravanning until we cannot do it anymore I guess ?
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
