Please could someone clarify the entry requirements in regards to the covid vaccine for the Netherlands. We are driving to Duinrell in April of this year, however my eldest son who is 16, is having to fly there as we have just had baby number six and our car only has seven seats. I have an eight seater on order but not until September due to the current issues with cars.
My wife and I are fully vaccinated so we are good to go, however my son has only had his first jab. If he was travelling with us then he would be fine. I have checked the government website and as I read it, you need to be fully vaccinated, which my son isn’t. However, when I rang KLM airlines, they have told me he is able to travel. I don’t want to be in situation whereby he is refused entry onto the plane.

We went away a few months ago and my sole source of info like this was the.Gov website and what they list as the entry requirements.
So looked at this and, as you suggest, it’s not that clear but seems, from info on the P&O website that children travelling with parents will not need to show proof of vaccination.
So, all that considered the only thing that comes to mind is that your wife fly out.
The OP has a new baby, who might still be dependent on Mum for their needs.
We get round this problem on our local Arran ferry by the extra person walking on as a foot passenger, maybe either adult could do this?
Factoring in a trip to the airport at both ends sounds like a logistical nightmare.
Thank you for all of the replies. I did try to change the flight so my wife went with the baby, however KLM have said that we can’t change the passenger.

People travelling to the Netherlands from a country outside the EU/Schengen area must always show a negative COVID-19 test result. People travelling to the Netherlands from a country in the EU/Schengen area must show a negative test result if they do not have proof of vaccination or a Digital COVID Certificate (DCC) based on proof of recovery. Children under 12 do not have to show a negative test result. The person travelling must pay for the test themselves.
Please note: the United Kingdom (UK) is not part of the EU/Schengen area.

That’s the section that I have read but on the government website it also says if you are not fully vaccinated you can only enter if you meet the requirements of an exemption category:
‘If you’re not fully vaccinated or a legal resident of the Netherlands, you are only allowed to enter the Netherlands from the UK if you meet the requirements of an exemption category of the EU entry ban, as established by the Dutch government. Under this entry ban, non-EU/EEA nationals and nationals of non-Schengen states arriving from outside the Schengen area will not be permitted entry to the Netherlands for non-essential purposes, unless they are fully vaccinated’.
I’m totally confused because when I spoke to KLM they said my son can travel as long as he provides a negative test 🤷♂️
Hi, it might be worth checking the Dutch government website after the 15 March as that is when there next announcement is being made regarding COVID. So, potentially things could change again.

It does seem confusing, but I suppose for KLM to say your son can TRAVEL with them is different to him being able to ENTER a country, in this case The Netherlands. Having had another look at the website, it does seem that unless you're fully vaccinated you can't enter that country (at the moment). That bit is clear, UK is outside EU/Schengen and is also not on the "safe" list of countries. The post above says there is a review due on 15 March, so perhaps things will change from that date?

He is travelling alone and he needs to have 12 weeks between his first and second jab, however there isn’t enough time before the holiday to get his second jab.
