Can anyone recommend a campsite which has nearby footpaths, cycle paths or a village area suitable for walking a dog?
Possibly in Southern Loire or slightly further South.
We prefer smaller / quieter sites where possible.
We particularly like Camping Le Hameau des Champs in Cormatin; lovely site and adjacent to part of the Greenway in Burgundy accessible through a gate directly from the site. We don't want to head over to Cormatin this summer as we are meeting up with family at the site in Loches later but are hoping for a peaceful week beforehand with our dog on a quiet site not too distant from Loches.

If you look on line you will find maps of a cycle way roughly following the river Loire and stretching for 800 km. Any site along that route might suit you, but I myself would go back to Camping Rural de Chatillon, at Huisseau sur Cosson and between Blois and Chambord, which we first found five years ago thanks to a review on here. The local stretch of cycle way goes right beside the site so you would have no need to drive out.
Nevertheless two questions remain in my mind. Is your dog well well behaved with passing cyclists or does she bark and chase them? And is that campsite too simple and unsophisticated for you? My suggestion might fail on those two points.

No, your suggestion does not fail on any points; brilliant, thank you.
Our dog is fine with cyclists (and people/kids) and used to walks along cyclepaths. We definitely don't need a sophisticated site and Camping Rural de Chatillon looks fine.
Can you tell me if it provides electric hook-ups and what ampage if you can recall.
It seems not to have any email; just a postal address, is that correct?
Thank you for taking time to send me that suggestion.
Sorry, it’s five years since we were there . My French and their English did’t go as far as any discussion about the amperage of their electricity.or whether they had an e mail booking system. We just turned up, said Bon Jour, shook hands, chose a pitch, and plugged the orange cable in. It was a go and look, see if we liked it, don’t know how long we are staying, sort of site for us. But we don’t have a dog or bikes so aren’t limited at all in that way.

Camping les Martinet, Briare le Canal municipal might suit you. After reading a review on here, we went there two years ago for a couple of nights but could easily have spent longer walking and cycling in the area with the little town only ten mins walk. The site has everything you would need in terms of electric hook up etc and I think a small swimming pool. We loved it here.
Camping La Gatine at Blere may also suit you, if it is in the right area (reviewed on here). Direct access to the riverside path (gate locked at night) for walking and cycling, a park by the site entrance and a short walk to the village, with supermarkets on the main road in. Ideally placed for some chateau visiting too, if you are so inclined, with brochures/vouchers available from reception. The bread shop by the car park/bus stops over the road from the site has some of the best bread we’ve tasted, especially their pain tradition (bien cuit by choice, for us).
There’s also Camping Le Jardin de Sully, to the east of Orleans (also reviewed on here), with an excellent dog walk along by the site side of the river and into some woods, and cycling/walking across the river bridge straight to the town and chateau, and along the far side of the river. There is also a supermarket in walking distance up the road from the site.
Just to add that both these sites have electric hook ups (we needed a French connector for La Gatine), with at least 8 or 10 amp electricity.

We stayed at Loches 4 or 5 years ago, with 2 dogs and I remember walking beyond the sports grounds for quite some way. Sorry, I can't remember the details!
