Hello there, we have kept our Adria Adora 532 UK in France (Nimes) for the last 8 years - stored under cover. We were using it once a year to stay at the fabulous Massereau site in Sommieres. Then came the pandemic …. We are now wanting to sell it - does anyone have any ideas if we could possibly sell it down there? We no longer have a tow bar so it all seems very complicated. We will go down to check it and make it ready for sale but if we can avoid the hassle of bringing it back to the uk it would be so much easier. Many thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas .

It could be sold as a site caravan but to sell it to a French person to tow behind a French reg car it would need to be registered in France. For it to be registered you would need the certificate of conformity which you might already have in your original caravan paperwork or if not get one from Adria because it could not be put on the road by a French owner otherwise.
If it has UK side left hand door that would devalue it for selling in France. How old is it ?
Right thanks - it is a 2008 model. I think that we will have to find a way to bring it back here tbh as we will need to empty it . It has been a fabulous ‘holiday home’ in France and saved us a fortune having it there now that I am looking at the cost of bringing it back with added tolls/diesel/crossing whereas we just drove straight down sharpish and rocked up to it delivered to our favourite pitch. Good times. Thanks again.
Why not get in touch with a local mobile service guy, who will probably be British, and ask if he knows anyone who might be interested.
Worth a try.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Bit of a racket that. Generally local caravan service bloke will take caravans for scrap & if it is worth a bit they will offer a pittance for it & then make a bit.
Example at the site we use in SW France a Dutch bloke had a Wilk that had been on a seasonal pitch for years. He was giving up pitch & was required to remove caravan by end of season.
It was 20yrs old solid German built caravan in good nick but would have required service & new tyres to tow. In the end he would have taken 1000€ for it. No takers so scrappy took it & gave him 200€. In France old caravans sell for good money & I guess he cleaned it up & sold it for probably 4 grand.
Thanks for the idea - we can try when we are down there I suppose, although we are looking at buying a car with a tow bar short term to bring it back. Don’t want to put a tow bar on current car. It’s all a bit of a faff and expense but will probably get a better price here. As we haven’t seen it for nearly three years we have to hope that it is ok!
There are people who are looking for a UK caravan to store in France, on some of the Facebook groups that I'm a member of. However, the problem is then arranging viewing.... which isn't easy when you're hundreds of miles away unless your storage site might be willing to do it. If you could give me an idea of the age and condition then I could mention it for you and see what interest there is.
I think there have also been people asking on this group about buying a second caravan to keep in France, to avoid the expense of fuel and ferry costs each time - and there may be more interest in this now, so why not put an advert in the Free Adverts on this forum. Again you've got the problem of viewings.
There are also companies which would tow it back to the UK for you - but they're costly. An individual might also be willing to tow it back for you for the cost of the trip and the ferry but each option is potentially complicated.
Perhaps the simplest option would be to have a tow bar fitted and tow it back home again.
Sorry, I wrote this much earlier, but then my laptop died, and it's only just come back on again!

Further to Val's post, I am one of those people, although we aren't yet fully decided and were thinking of storing nearer to Calais. However, as we already have a UK caravan, we will be looking for something at the lower end of the scale price wise.
I would also suggest posting on here, but there are several Facebook groups where you could advertise too, as well as Marketplace.

We had an Adria Adora 2006, but a different model, with a fixed bed, which we sold in 2015 for half the price being asked for the one mentioned above. I think second hand caravan prices must have risen substantially since then!

So has it not been serviced in 8 years or had tyres replaced? If it's barely been moved in all that time, I'd fit new tyres before potentially towing it back to the UK.

Joanna, I wonder if you could message me again please. Thanks, Val

Unless you are thinking of not insuring your van, just be aware that it is not as straightforward as previously to get insurance for a van stored in France. They seem to be getting quite fussy about security on the storage sites, so I’d check you can get insurance before you go ahead and buy a van.

I know you had problems, using Towergate, but our last renewal with them went through with no problem. If it doesn't this time then we will just pay the extra premium to the site owner to cover our caravan as well as the others stored on site.
Our problem stems from the fact that C&CC have stopped providing cover for storage abroad, Towergate will no longer cover vans stored on working farms and I can’t give them enough detail about security at alternative (less secure and more expensive) storage sites we were considering for them to cover us. Frustrating!
Sorry all but I hadn’t been notified of replies - thank you for all of your comments. We have decided to put a tow bar on the car and we are going to drive down at the end of April and bring it back. Where it is stored they are going to replace the tyres and do a brake service so it should be fit for travel. We hope that it is in a good condition and we will have a week holiday in it to check everything is working and ready for sale. It has really worked for us to keep it in France as our family grew up and we didn’t tour so much in the uk. And the difference in cost to go down with no van and come back with a van is very noticeable. I suppose if someone is in the Nimes/Montpellier region in the last week in aprilthey would be welcome to view it. The undercover storage we use costs €270 a year. The campsite we stay at is Domaine de Massereau which is a five star site very popular with people from the uk.
Thanks again for your comments.
We had our folding camper serviced by Caravan Help Abroad this week(definitely recommend!) & just noticed they have English owned caravans for sale in France on their website,
