Having a bit of a nightmare with the whole P&O debacle. We're booked with them to take the van over to France in July; it's a booking that's been 'rolled over' twice due to covid....

Now we have no idea what will happen; we booked through the CAMC, but our ticket is not transferable, so can't move it to DFDS.

No DFDS sailings available to book on their website; can book Irish Ferries out but not back. Eurotunnel has bookings coming home.

What a situation. No idea if P&O will even still be operating by then.

Tempted to book Irish Ferries out and Eurotunnel back 'just in case', but P&O cost £500, and another booking will cost us £400....

Pretty angry right now. Rock and a hard place comes to mind.

Even if they survive I'd never book with P&O again.

I would wait, I believe that P&O will be back pretty soon.

Where do you live ? We are going Harwich Hook of Holland in June for the 90day ration. Booked through the C&CC website car caravan £181 return day crossing including £20 non member fee. We live nr Harwich & road mileage home to Dordogne is no different for us than going from Dover.

If you can’t go any other way economically it could be an option wherever you live. You can arrive previous night & there is plenty of room to park overnight with caravan nr checkin. From Hook it’s all motorway down into France.

I take it you can't see their location in their profile Billy?

Just a thought - as the C&MC are acting as 'a travel agent' aren't they responsible for arranging an alternative, just as they would if an airline went belly up?

Hi Billy....and everyone!

sorry, had a hectic couple of days.....we're in Ashford, so only just up the road from Dover really.

We've been in touch with the CAMC and they advise we can't change the tickets as they were fixed....so we're stuck with fingers crossed for P&O, or considering an alternative before it's too late and the alternatives are booked up.

But I hadn't thought about the Harwich route; we're driving down to Perpignan so it's a case of how much time it would add to that trip. We currently do two overnight stops on the way down (we like to dawdle!!).

Thanks for the idea though

Hi Triaxle

I like the fact we'd be further along, but price-wise it's pretty much the same as doing Dover-Calais.

This is the nuisance; whether to wait and hope P&O sail, or book another sailing with DFDS (so spending another £450)....have checked with CAMC and our ticket isn't transferable between companies, nor is it refundable.

Proper annoyed.

One of the reasons why we no longer use CAMC for bookings plus if amending a booking they charge £20.

Di+Glyn, P&O has resumed sailings from Hull, Liverpool and Cairnryan. Sailings from Dover seem likely to follow well before your July date.
