The toilet block at this site has been refurbished to a very high standard. Single sex toilets aplenty. Accessible toilet room. Shower rooms still mixed, but lots of them. Some pitches with all weather matting. New ‘van service area under construction opposite reception. New young team. Pitches now allocated. Will review in due course.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Jolly good. May well give it another try. Last time we were there the sanitaires were truly skanky. If the old misery guts who was running it has gone then that will be an improvement in itself.

Absolutely the most miserable couple - she as well as him! And the toilet block improvement is about ten years overdue. When we last stopped it was absolutely dreadful.
Stayed there a few years ago and vowed never again. In fact are looking at a Val A recommendation of a few years ago at Courville- sur-Eure on the way down in a couple of weeks. Should I reconsider?

Why not, if it’s convenient for you. It would be good to support a couple in their new enterprise.

I would, because 'Camping de Chartres' is so convenient and a lovely walk into a lovely town, with opportunity to see the cathedral which potentially might be holding an event worth staying up late for. Much easier if you are walking distance of home.
Have emailed them to check that they are still accepting ACSI discount card. They are listed but if it has changed hands worth checking before we set off in a couple of weeks.

Have sent two emails but no reply yet. But obviously they still except ACSI.
You shouldn't need to book ahead. We never have and we have used them in August as well as out of season. So long as you get there reasonably early, there will be pitches. From experience the hoards don't start coming in until about 6 pm.

The site has replied. As previously mentioned they do still accept ACSI discount card.
Just got to choose between them and Courville-sur-Eure for an overnight stop on the way down.
Good to know - due to the unfavourable reviews we made a stop off at Rouen last year, which although a nice site was a bit off the beaten track and it probably would have been better to get as far as Chartres. Will definitely help those who are trying to get to the Dordogne etc with just one stop.
