Hi all. Please can someone tell me if I need a crit air sticker to drive on the A86 round Paris?
We are only passing through, don't intend to stop but just covering all bases. Thank you

Have a look at the Crit Air website for the current areas etc but for the sake of £4 or so it's worth getting a sticker anyway just in case you end up in an area where you need one.

I know I have said this before on here, but there is a popular misconception that the Critair stickers are only needed in and around large towns. There are in fact large areas, in some cases whole regions, where at times of high pollution they are required. It really is best just to get one, they are very cheap.

And remember, it's not just about displaying a Crit Air sticker but about checking which category is allowed in to specific areas at specific times.

badger54 made the most valid reason for getting one, apart from the permanent zones in a few towns, there is legislation that allows local authorities all over the country to impose temporary 'pop up' zones in case of high local pollution, these zones are pretty big compared to rather small permanent zones! ... very easy to find yourself either in one of these temp zones or driving a long way around them to avoid.

For under £5 posted to UK it's just not worth NOT getting a Crit Air sticker if your vehicle is permitted one. I got one for peace of mind that I could go anywhere even though no plans to touch a permanent zone, took around 10 days for sticker to arrive, but temporary email cover/authorisation arrived next day.

The French Gov web site is available in English and so easy to fill in form. AVOID the rip-off private sites offering to duplicate Gov web site and charging a hefty fee!

This post has been great.
I have just managed to avoid the scam sites charging between 20euros and 49 euros, find the correct site and get my crit air cert for 4.35 euros.

Thanks everyone.

I just scanned it and used a resizer to make the PDF small enough for the website. Wasn't asked to put chassis number anywhere. Registration number is asked for.

Doubt you'll need one but it's only four quid and they're valid for five years.

In all the years of going to France, I have had a crit air sticker. Very very rarely ever see any French with one so didn’t bother this year
