'Mask-wearing has been reinstated on board our ships
From Monday, 4 July, to ensure the continued safety of our passengers and our crew, we are requesting all passengers, unless exempt - older than six years old - to wear a mask while on board in public areas (other than when seated to eat or drink)'.
On the Roscoff/Plymouth ferry yesterday about 50% of passengers were wearing masks and ALL staff were.
In France itself they are still mandatory in places of health and care and since last week there have been requests from the French government to wear masks on public transport and when in large gatherings.
The latest is that the mayor of Nice reintroduced compulsory mask wearing on public transport in the city from today so things may be changing again.
We were on Monday 4th/Tues 5th overnight BF from Caen to Portsmouth, hardly anyone was wearing a mask (maybe 10%), even some of the staff were sporting them under their chin rather than properly in place! No sign any staff at check in or on board were requesting/advising passengers to wear one.
IIRC, mate who booked the ferry got a text whilst we were in France advising of the change of policy. We had taken masks with us as we anticipated a reintroduction due to the rising Covid cases in France, which were rising faster than UK, before we even set foot in France the week before.
We have had texts a few days ago stating (as chrisandsandra above) that masks on board have been re-intoduced. As a slight aside, as far as I'm aware, the masks should be FFP2 or FFP3 ( non-valved) medical grade where/when they must be used in France.
I'm sure somebody will correct me!

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Not sure as to France, but I asked this question for brittany Ferries.
Good Afternoon, I see you have reinstated face mask wearing in public areas. Are these required to be a particular grade, as in FFP2 or will any mask be adequate?

Hello Graham, any mask should suffice for travel on-board our services. Kind regards, James
