Looking at potential sites for an overnighter between Poitiers and Limoges on our way down to the Dordogne, this site at Bellac is in the right place but I'm struggling to find any up to date information about it eg. is it even still open? I've emailed the Mairie at Bellac but had no reply. Does anyone know anything about it, or know of an alternative site in this area? Thank you.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We over-nighted there in Sept. 2020 and it was perfect for that. The facilities were a little dated but perfectly acceptable. There was a barrier at the gate and the office was only open from 17.00 to 19.00 so you can only enter during those hours - - cost was 13.90 euros inc. EHU.
It is still showing as open on the towns website.

An alternative which we used four or five times is Camping Municipal l’Allochon at Montmorillon - a very pleasant spot about 25 miles north of Bellac. One review on here describes if as gorgeous.

Would agree with Netherton on this site. A few years since we were there but both site and small the town are indeed gorgeous. An easy walk in to town with enough to see for a stopover.
Another one, which we will be using on the 12th Aug is Camping Municipal de Mauvillant about 30 miles before Bellac just off the N147 at Lussac-les-Chateaux.

That's one of my possibilities, but is it right you can't arrive on a Saturday or Sunday?
We stay at Lac Saint Pardoux close to A20 (jctn25) lovely site with river beach. About 15 miles south of Bellac.

Thanks monkeyface. How long does it take from the motorway and what are the roads like?

If you go on the town websiteit says its open on Saturday. Copied and pasted off town web page.
January 1 to June 12
Open every day except Saturdays and Sundays
from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
from June 13 to October 1
Open every day except Sundays
Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
We will be arriving Friday afternoon and leaving Saturday morning to travel down to Le Bugue.
The site will be managed by the Mairie, and these are the opening hours to make payments at the Mairie. It doesn't mean the site isn't open at times outside of these hours. Basically if you arrive outside these hours there is usually an 'honesty box' somewhere for you to note your stay and make the appropriate payment.

This may be true in other sites, but when we rolled up between these hours we were prevented from entering due to the height barrier being locked in position. We had to wait in the space ouside. Not sure if this is still the case. We will find out on the 12th and update here.
