There is a fuel shortage in France due to an Industrial dispute. It appears to be affecting diesel more than petrol. Yesterday we passed 8 fuel stations that had no diesel, including 3 hyper markets before we found some diesel.
So fill up before you leave UK.

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We have just got back to Dieppe from the Camargue, there seemed to be one or two stations with no diesel on the way. We filled up at a Total somewhere near Clermont Ferrand and there was a big queue at the pumps but none at the HGV pumps, so we filled up there , much quicker as well!

I’m currently here in my hotel room in Leipzig on a 3 night break , very nice city !
We were due to drive out via the tunnel but my car is poorly ( getting fixed on Thursday ) so had to fly from Bristol. Glad we did in a way as we were planning on getting diesel in France ( and the original thread pointed to the Calais area in particular) and fuel here in Germany is really expensive at the moment .

Hi,
Anyone around or been through the Calais area now that could give an update on the fuel situation? We go over on Thursday, just wondering if things have improved as regard’s availability?
Thanks,
Fiona
According to the papers here in France, Nord / Pas de Calais is not badly affected - but would still be inclined to fill up in the UK before crossing.
Worst affected areas - Paris and Rhone / Saone corridor from Burgundy to all points south. Understand autoroute services are being prioritised for refueling.
Arrived in France via the tunnel this am. No apparent shortages that we could see as we drove to Bruges after filling up at Auchan Dunkerque (€1.88 diesel)
