Having enjoyed a great stay on a municipal in the Loire we’ve remembered why we like this sort of site so much - the good sized pitches, handy location, lack of frills and reasonable cost. Any recommendations for Municipals in Brittany? Can be anywhere coastal, we’re aiming to go all the way round, staying one or two nights. I realise a few have closed in recent years or been turned into fee-paying aires, but the latter would be ok too as we’re in a motorhome. We’ll be travelling in June so also realise that some facilities might not be open.

Yes there still are some left - you might like the municipal sites at Locquirec, La Roche Bernard and Ste Anne d’Auray - but why restrict yourselves to municipal sites? Many have been privatised - such as at Blain - or have joined the Camping Car Park list - as at Henvic. Why rule them out for that reason? So choose the parts of Brittany you want to go to, rather than just the places where there is still a municipal campsite.
We use This site to check out sites. It's not updated anymore but you can check on the web any sites that take your fancy to see if they are still open and still municipal run.

If you'd like a site close to the ferry port of Cherbourg then I suggest Camping Municipal de Clairefontaine, Rue de Eugene Toulorge, Clairfontaine.
North of town is the huge Mare de Vauvile National Nature Reserve. This former military training ground is sand dunes, going on for miles, there's nothing there and you'll need to take loads of drinking water. Among the dunes you'll find abandoned WW2 tanks and a half track.
The campsite is basic but adequate, rope workers at the local nuclear power station stayed here when I was there.
This is a small quiet town, if you want bright lights and a big city you'll have to pop over to Cherbourg.
In the South of Brittany is Camping Municipal de Kerhillio,
Keravel. South of Erdeven. This campsite is massive and set in the dunes. There are several color coded sectors to choose from. There are 2 toilet blocks behind the beach, the Superette (Shop) is in the square outside the campsite by the campervan park.
It might be wise to camp within sight of one of the toilet blocks, this will place you close to the beach but miles from the shop. The areas close to the toilet blocks are the most crowded. You can choose to be miles away from anyone else if you wish to.
I have seen a German man sitting in his car with the engine on by one of the toilet blocks while his wife washed up, people actually drive to go to the toilet. Anyone planning to go to the beach or off site goes via the toilet blocks. If you own a folding bike this is the place to take it, Walking to the shop and back for breakfast baguettes may take an hour, but minutes by bike, you can now dash to the toilet block without using a car.
The beach is sandy and good with Atlantic surf for those that enjoy it.
There is a park nearby with neolithic monuments hidden in the woods.
I suggested my brother visit this park, on his return he thanked me for sending him to the dinosaur park (with his kids), I replied "What dinosaur park?", there is a dinosaur park somewhere not far away.
Carnac and it's neolithic standing stones is not far away.
If you want a day out in a city go to Lorient, there is a German WW2 submarine base there. Under the concrete dome is the tourist location and an industrial estate. The Americans sent Liberators from Kent to bomb it but only managed to scratch to the paint.
This whole area is incredibly Celtic and very green, I want to go back there, maybe I'll visit the dinosaur park.

Thanks Netherton - Camping CarParks are definitely on our radar, having seen a nice one on our travels last year. When I first checked their website was still being completed with very few reviews, but I expect it’s been updated since then so that’s a nice job for a cold winter evening! I was really just thinking of keeping our site costs down and looking for places geared up for visits of a couple of nights. We’ve done a few ‘all singing and dancing’ sites in Brittany before and thoroughly enjoyed a week’s stay in them, but that’s not the purpose of this trip. We want to see if we like being nomads !

We have been to Brittany at least a dozen times but have no experience of what you call All singing and dancig sites.
Municipal sites were often pleasant enough and we stayed at lots of them, but frankly the staff reminded me of Club site wardens - they took the money and showed no further interest in us.
All over France the sites where staff were helpful and concerned were smallish and family owned and family run. There was an owner who came out of the office in the rain to help us find a dry pitch, others who rustled up a meal when we arrived without food, one who organised a drinks party for everyone, another showed us how to get wi fi access when we were stuck, one got a dental appointment when one of us was in pain, several who delivered bread and croissants early every morning morning right to our pitch, and one who even put our laundry in her own machine.
Brittany is lovely and well worth visiting. I hope your tour goes well and that you can find sites where there is a personal touch.
We can recommend La Ferme de Lann Hoedic near Sarzeau - not a municipal site but quite similar in style to those at the higher end, though with the personal touch mentioned by Netherton above. It is in a very quiet location, about a mile and a half out of the town and a 15 - 20 minute walk along a traffic free path to the beach and coastal paths. https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=8353
There is a municipal in St Gildas de Rhuys which we used last year, just behind the beach. Basic but cheap 15 euros a night for two people, one dog including electric in September. Camping Kerver. We loved the location. I will do a belated review.
Since you said you're going round Brittany, its more of an overnight / Aire, but you might be interested in Camping municipal de Châtelaudren near Saint-Brieuc.
Also, not a municipal in practice but it is in spirit, have a look at Pors Person near Douarnenez.
And finally, since you're going in June, have a look at what ACSI has, loads of sites for 22 Euros and under out of season.
