Not been to France for several years mainly due to covid restrictions. We are going again this coming year and I've just looked at my "Euros stash". Is paying a large supermarket shop ie over 50 Euros using a 100-note likely to be a problem? In the past I have paid restaurant bills with this denomination without problems but have minor problems at some supermarkets. Thinking of changing them into 20's before I go.

I would stick to 20s, that is what we do.
We also have opened a Chase bank account, the Debit card is free to use throughout Europe, and they give you 1% back on what you spend on it, with the exception of drawing cash from ATM.
Thanks for reply, was being a bit lazy don't know how I got 100 euro notes in the first place I get them changed. Thanks for info about chase account, I've always used cash when in Europe but there are obvious advantages to having a card.
I've never had a 100 euro note, but I have found that shops etc are reluctant to give change for 50 euros for small purchases, although supermarkets have no problem.

Thanks for the reply usually at the checkouts I give smaller denominations but if over 50 and if I have some I have used 50's I think the change in the till is an issue sometimes for larger notes.
