Doing Newhaven Dieppe for first time in a couple of weeks, and coming back early June. Could someone recommend sites near Dieppe for the return journey in early June.
Also, we arrive in France at 4.30pm (their time). Don't think I'll make site in Chartres before closing time, so apart from Pont De L'Arche, any recommended sites near the D154 (Evraux, Dreux route) I've pencilled in Etangs De Marsalin, anyone been? Entrance looks tight for 7.5m caravan
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Happy busy family site with a rather nice indoor/outdoor swimming pool.
I arrived late they found me a pitch close to the pool although I hadn't booked.
There's a convenient Aldi next door, had croissants, rolls, ham, cheese and orange orange juice for breakfast on my last morning in France.
If you are booked onto a late ferry and need to waste time in Dieppe park up on the cliffs above the fortress. The fortress is worth a visit and steps will bring you down to the outdoor swimming pool end of town.

Personally if I arrived in Dieppe at 4.30 pm. I would check inlo a camp site there, do some shopping, and then go into town for an evening meal at a fish restaurant by the harbour. I might even stay a second day - Dieppe is a good place.

First time back at Dieppe on Saturday for about forty years! We arrived intending to find somewhere to eat prior to our midnight sailing, and weren't disappointed by the choices available. There are lots of traditional French restaurants, those specialising in seafood, but also a Thai/Vietnamese place, and an Indian, both of which appeared popular at about 7.30 pm on a Saturday. We chose traditional and weren't disappointed.
We ate and drank very well, and slept OK on the reclining seats as no cabins were available.
The Dieppe crossing is subsidised by the tourist office, with a 20% discount for the over 60s - so if you can do repay them by eating out or otherwise supporting the local economon.
We have stayed at all the above mentioned sites, though quite a few years ago now, and would be happy to stay at any of them again.
The closest to the town is Camping Vitamin, then La Source and then Les Goelands.

We stayed at Camping Le Marqueval, Pourville sur Mer which is convenient for Dieppe. Originally intended to use La Source but found the owner not very pleasant so left. Thought Marqueval a much nicer site.
The excellent Camping St. Claire at Neufchatel en Bray is not a million miles from Dieppe for your return journey and is close to shops and supermarkets if you need to stock up on wine and cheese before coming back.
If you can get there, then L'Ile des Trois Rois at Les Andelys is a lovely site - riverside pitches, overlooked by a castle, and everything you need for one night or a longer stay.

Been to St Clair a couple of times. What is the best route to Dieppe from there?
I have stayed at St. Claire a few times but always en-route to Calais. I don`t know the best route to Dieppe from there but it is only about 20 km`s and looks a fairly straight road.
My Sat Nav gives me a route between Dieppe and Rouen to a twin roundabout where the access to the duel carriageway was never built. The undelivered slip road is blocked off with a barrier. Typical of France there is no road sign indicating which way to go and on whichever route you choose from this point there are no Rouen road signs to pick up on, my Sat Nav simply tells me to return to the twin roundabouts and leaves me there.
Taking the roundabout exit immediately before the non existent slip road takes you through miles of countryside before joining the dual carriageway on a steep dangerous incline. The first time I took this route I was followed by a foreign (neither British not French) car that appeared lost.
Coming upon the twin roundabouts may cause distress to inexperienced drivers in France.
We are at Camping des 2 Rivières, Martigny. First time here. Only 15 mins from the port. Very friendly reception and you pass Le Clerc on the way. Or, you can take a 10 minute drive back to Le Clerc once settled in. Lovely spot, plenty of pitches and a lovely lake.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
