Ive never seen Eurotunnel prices so high for a car and camping trailer: £274 minimum each way for a mid-week crossing at a reasonable time. Had a look at return prices for end of August, just in case we decide to stay for longer this year, and they are just plain crazy!

We looked but chose Irish Ferries Dover to Calais out June and return July it was the best price.
Eurotunnel a lot more. They must use vast amounts of electricity so their costs will have gone up given the rise in energy prices.

I don't think our crossings next month were overly expensive, however what annoys me is that almost the day after I booked and paid, I got an email from them offering a loyalty 15% off crossings in May, which would have worked for us.
Up not a great deal for us for the same crossing this year.
Did do a comparison with the ferries and they were about £60 more, so not worth it for the convenience factor and quicker crossing.

Late August is always more expensive as it's the end of the school summer holidays. This year it's made worst because of the rugby world cup which starts early September - I am sure this has contributed to higher prices. We go Saturday September 2nd and return 2 weeks later (car and 2 adults) and the price is nearly £200. The most we have ever paid for the same fortnight is £164

I monitored the prices for at least a year before I booked last December 2022 for my trip in May 2023.
383 GBP return including 44 GBP for the dog, for my PVC which is just under 6m.
After 21:00 crossing on a Friday, returning the following Saturday early evening.

2 x adults + Car + Roofbox (High) + 2 bikes on towbar carrier (not a trailer).
Late am depart, early pm arrival.
Easter break in Bruges = Weds 05/04 to Tues 11/04 = £236 return
Sat 03/06 to Sat 17/06 = £260 return
Sat 02/09 to Sat 16/09 = £268 return
Creeping up each year, but didn't even check ferry options/prices, as the tunnel just works for us, for convenience, crossing speed, familiarity, and usually a late amendment to dates, extending the stay once work commitments are confirmed.

The price doubles if you're towing a trailer. We've been spoilt by the days of Frequent Traveller, when a trailer cost just £49 extra, each way.
Yes, I discovered that when I was tenting and planned to go to France with my trailer.
Probably the main reason why I did not bother.

Off topic apologies in advance, I just checked and it would cost me nearly 300 GBP to take the van across to Isle of Wight and back.
It is not going to happen as I might as well go over to Mainland Europe for that price!

That's a shame, it's a truly beautiful place although I come from there so I may be biased, speaking as an exiled Islander I have to agree, I've always felt the cost of crossing from the North Island to the Blessed Homeland was excessive which is why I seldom go back home.
You might want to check out Red Funnel, they often do offers for moho/campers linked to campsites. Our last crossing with our 7.9m moho was considerably less than £300! Last autumn we took the car and 3 adults across for less than £60 on a day return, that may be one way of keeping the cost down too (by booking day returns but not coming back on the day).
Going back to the original subject of this thread, my mate is coming back today after going across for a long weekend. He has a house in Deux-Sevres so goes over quite often. He only went this time because he got an offer from Eurotunnel, return trip £200. The tunnel suits him because he takes his dogs with him.
