I have a "big" birthday coming up that this year falls in august.
my wife wants to go away somewhere/anywhere, but I just replied I would rather just be in my motorhome.
"Well lets go to France for a long weekend?"
We have been a few times to France, but ALWAYS out of the school holidays.
(we are aware that our ACSI card will not be valid whilst there).
We will be sailing in/out of Dieppe.
I thought about Saumur on the loire (as we like the campsite and more importantly the wine there)but that might be a fit far for just 3/4 nights.
any advice given and/or places to go would be greatly appreciated.
(nb on this trip we don't wish to do the ww2 sites as this weekend is purely for celebration (I hope that makes sense))
Thanks

For just a long weekend and arriving in Dieppe, i would suggest Honfleur. Not sure how busy the campsite would be; depends which weekend - 18-19th August should be getting a bit quieter than earlier dates as it's after the Assumption bank holiday. from memory there is an aire about 15 minutes from the centre and a couple of campsites nearby.
Can't recommend a site as we haven't camped there but I'd second Honfleur as a destination for a long weekend. The Camp Site Search brings up a good few options.

Actually, it's a while ago now but we enjoyed a few days in Dieppe itself - ideal for a weekend break, I would say, and with several campsite options in the area.
Haven't been to Honfleur for some years but certainly can recommend the ice cream from the "Maitre Glacier Artisan Fabriant" on the west side of the old harbour.
Honfleur gets busy. There is parking near the centre which is pay hour but there is a big parking area a few minutes walk away which is €5 all day.
We used it last year, it can take motorhomes too.

Are you absolutely committed to taking your motorhome? We have done long weekends in smart hotels at Roscoff,, St Malo and Rouen. All were town centre and we didn’t even need to take a car. There must be somewhere similar in Dieppe, and your wife will be tempted.

Well that is thinking outside the box.
I will give it some consideration :-)
I was just going to suggest the same thing, since it appears that taking a motorhome is more expensive than a normal car. Book a lovely hotel for a couple of nights, and use the price difference to visit the Michelin star restaurant in Dieppe, Les Voiles d'Or, for a special birthday lunch. Lunchtime prices much better value for money than in the evening when prices are out of this world.
A day of all things motorhome and campervan. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds. Catering, hot drinks and food options are available. Easy access to the site and free parking included. Win one of five pairs of day tickets
