I am looking at booking up a one way ticket at the end of August. The Dover/Calais P&O ferry with pet lounge is almost half the price (over £100 cheaper). Is it really much more of a faff to get the ferry? We have only ever used the tunnel with our motorhome but I was watching a YouTube vlog of a couple using this crossing with the pet lounge and it seemed fine. Has anyone else switched from tunnel and found it ok?

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
We’ve started using Irish ferries Dover Calais, less than half price of tunnel. Even crossing 2 weeks ago in peak times, by carefully selecting time of departure we only queued 15-20 mins at passport. French didn’t even look at them, never mind stamp them.
Won’t the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), that starts in 2024, authorise visits to EU? No idea of details, just keeping a watching brief as we hope to go to a Spanish wedding next year.
On the original question, we always used to use the tunnel with Frequent Traveller tickets. Since they are no longer, we buy P&O season tickets and have always found the ferry very comfortable and easy. Certainly much cheaper than Eurotunnel these days. It is obviously a longer crossing but we are on holiday and can always spare that extra 45 minutes.

Have people already forgotten P&O dismissing over 800 workers to employ foreign staff. We would not use P&O even if the tickets were free!

I think the answer to your question is, yes.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Is there something under the current regulations that stops you going to a wedding in Spain?

No, of course not!! But some “current regs” will be enforced or authorised or checked differently next summer when this comes into force in 2024 - or so I read. I need similar authorisation to visit my sister in NZ.

Irish ferries 👍
Irish Ferries did the same dismissing 50% of their workforce to bring in cheaper labour - more years ago than P&O so people forget
