Good morning

Has anyone stayed in Le Bacarès? I’m starting to plan for next summer and just wanted to know what the area is like.
Thanks.

We stayed there many times. It is perfect for flat cycling in every direction, Leucate, Rivessalte, even down to Argelès.

The best value campsite is Californie with its enormous pool and aquatic area.

A cheap bus service runs into Perpignan and there are frequent markets on the sea front and loads of supermarkets within walking distance from the campsite.

For essentials there is Cave Suffren,Bvd du juillet 14. A family run business who are Catalan first, French second. Very good wines "en vrac" and their Sangria en vrac is to die for

The area has a long straight sandy beach which stretches for miles - the beach is broad, flat and unsheltered. It can be very windswept. On the inland side is an enormous salt water lagoon. The town has developed entirely within modern times and extends north on a long finger of between the two.

It is a completely modern development and millions have been spent on the town as a tourist destination providing everything the modern tourist might desire. There are about 50 campsites within ten miles of the town and millions have been spent on them too - their facilities and activities are incredible and as far removed from UK campsites as can be imagined.

In summer the area is very busy and the temperatures can be fiercely hot. You may find it too hot if you are still in the Trigano you have listed on your profile.

The season is short and things shut down quickly when the tourists leave.

Thanks SG Thomas. I will definitely have a look at that site. Our issue is that we have six children so some sites won’t allow us all in one pitch. Fingers crossed they do.

Yes we are still in the trailer tent. We are currently in Cavalaire-sur-Mer and the weather is red hot here too. Thank you for the information 👍

We have stayed at Camping Floride et LEmbouchure three times we like this area we can get around without using car, there are 3 supermarkets within walking distance there are restaurants within 5-10 walk and they also have regular markets day and night time. The site is split into two you have the reception side with the restaurant, entertainment & pool with slides etc and on the other side of the road is mainly pitches the road is easy enough to cross we were on a pitch this side and the pitch was about 100m from the beach the pitches with private bathrooms are also this side.
