We returned to France after an absence of 12 years.
I can't believe the contrast in the French and Italians.
The French in general have been so rude.
French campsites may be well organised but what they have in acumen they seem to lack in people skills.
Very disappointed.
We're at 'Le Tedey', Lacanau...beautiful site. The staff...erm not as good as they were. The site now have some luxury cabins which are stunning.
So whilst I've enjoyed paddle boarding every day, I miss the terrain and architecture of other regions.
Italy for 2024, but we'll need a better hotel for our stop over in the Alsace ...the Ferme du Pape in Eguisheim went down hill when Brithotels took over.

Favourite site:
Camping Nanzel, Limone, Lake
Garda..perfect for MTB, Kayak, SUP and fell running training.
Favourite areas: Provence, French Alps, Savigny (as a stop over for Southern France: Rhein valley as a stop over for Italy. 78
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Italy provisionally booked.
Nanzel have bungalows with a lake view.
No tent in '24, just our boards and kit.
We may even drive down through Germany, so will need a stop over.
Eguisheim, but NOT the Ferme Du Pape unless it's under different Management.
PS. I got an apology from Le Tedey

What were the problems at Le Tedey? Is the site under new management? I noticed it's not included in ACSI, this year.
Kelper, we used to go to Le Tedey years ago and yes it is under new management.
I just think we prefer our experiences elsewhere.
Le Tedey is perfect for watersports and is a beautiful location.
I just find some of the people quite rude.
Italy is provisionally booked.

We too found the staff at all the French sites we used in our two trips this year (7 weeks and 5 weeks respectively) to be friendly and helpful.
I have never found the French in general to be rude, rather the opposite, especially if you make an effort to observe their social niceties and use at least a few words of French.
La langue par un probleme, je parle Francais en France.
Nef anne travais Guerlain!
Just unfortunate...90% of people were lovely but a couple was enough.
I prefer Italy and Italians...probably because I am half Italian.
Bordeaux and St Emillion were beautiful.
I found Lacanau was just not for me.
At the end of the day we are all different and have different experiences.
We have had some great trips to France but it's time to move on.
Conversation fini, la libre ferme.
A bientot.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement to make, since your later post cites 'just a couple' of people at one site - Le Tedey - were rude (but you don't relate the circumstances).
We were in France for 81 days this summer and stayed at ten different campsites. We had a rather strange experience with the manager at one but she wasn't actually rude. Staff at all the others - and the French people in general - were friendly, helpful and courteous. It's a big part of why we return, every year.
It would be a shame to let one upsetting experience put you off an entire country, and especially one so huge, so regionally diverse and so rich in culture, architecture snd gastronomy.
Nah, the ignorant person who manages the bar put me off.
The effort it takes to reach Italy outweighs the lack of pleasantries and attributes France may offer.
We love France but prefer Italy.
We're all entitled to a choice aren't we?

I’m sure we’ve all come across a tiny percentage of rude/badly mannered people in every country we’ve visited (including our own!) at some time or another, but hopefully wouldn’t then make a judgement that everyone in that country is like that and avoid visiting again.
I can understand you deciding not to return to that particular site any more, but it seems rather extreme to say the “French in general have been so rude” based on one isolated incident, especially as you have obviously enjoyed many previous holidays in that and other areas of France.
However, as you say, you are indeed entitled to a choice.
I would say you take the French as you find them, the vast majority of nice people outweigh the less nice ones!
We spent three weeks on the move in France this year, never more than two nights in one place (just a try out, will stay for longer in 2024) and were overwhelmingly met with warmth and humour. Some quirky... a campsite manager who sent me out in pouring rain to find a pitch and said 'oh dear' in a very English accent when I returned , another who was adamant we'd booked a 'ferry pitch' as it was a one nighter near Roscoff but then good-naturedly showed me a selection of nicer pitches.
By contrast a few years back we were working as press and photographer at a sporting event in Caen...we dealt with the most unhelpful, disorganised group of people I've ever had the misfortune to meet ! if it hadn't been for our lovely campsite, I doubt we'd have gone back! I'm a rusty French speaker and used to dealing with a variety of personalities through work... a smile goes a long way in any language.
In Perros Guirec this summer we were the only brits on a fabulous municipal where none of the staff spoke English...their appreciation of my attempts at French make me like the place even more.
Agreed, you encounter people with ignorant/ rude traits wherever you are.
We had some comments about Brexit, refusal of a 'loo roll' at the campsite bar WC, rude comments in the campsite shop (twice). Highly unusual events but they happened.
I will say that Ciela Village apologised.
Some you win, some you lose.
I'm too long in the tooth to tolerate such people.
