We love Municipals and have been pleased to see over the last couple of years that local authorities have been investing in them with updated sanitaires, a refurbished pool (even if it's still delightfully simple with no water slides etc) and a welcoming reception area with lots of info about the local region available.
We've seen this at La Flèche and also Au Bords Du Loir (Lude - doesnt have its own pool but next to a smart sports centre and allows free access) both sites that would give upscale commercial sites a run for their money without the costs; anyone seen anything similar in Normandy/Brittany ? I've noted the one in Combourg, and we also stayed on a cracker in Perros Guirec this year. More of the same please !
Good sanitaires especially important as we will probably be on aires in between and only have a small washroom on board, which my disabled husband has priority over!

Whilst not strictly in what is classed as Brittany, the Loire-Atlantique (Department 44), is very much seen as being part of Brittany as testified by the 44=Bretagne graffiti you often see when travelling in the area. So really it's a case of who you ask whether it qualifies as Brittany or not.
Nantes, where the Dukes of Brittany had a palace (what would they know about it's eligibility for being in Brittany), certainly fits into this category and the municipal there Camping Nantes, is easily one of the best municipals we've ever stayed at, it takes the ACSI card, there's a restaurant on-site and you get free access to the municipal piscine just opposite. It's also conveniently on the tramline into the city. We'd certainly recommend the site.
I wrote a review of Camping Municipal du Motten at Ste Anne d’Auray when we were there in 2018 and feared then that it would be closing like so many other municipal sites. I see from their website that it has still been open in 2023, but only for the months of July and August. Who knows whether it will still be there in 2024. So many other municipal sites have been sold or leased to private operators, or turned into motorhome aires.
Thanks Mr Wez - should have included that one on my list of 'loves' ! It's a lot more expensive than your standard municipal so we were a bit undecided whether to go there or use the CCP aire next door but had two wonderful nights there in July. Would certainly go back and hope it doesn't rain for 24 hours this time !

Yes, you're right, we tend to travel out of high season so we paid the ACSI rate of €23 per night.
