We wanted to do a Lidl shop on our way back from France this time, but left it rather late. We 'googled' 'Lidl near me' on the autoroute just after the end of the Peage section between Boulgne and Calais and discovered a new Lidl at junction 36 on the A16 near Marquise. It's literally just off the slip road, and there is also an Intermarche with cheap fuel. a McDonalds (if you must, we mustn't), a Marie Blachere Boulangerie (lovely tarts, breads and sandwiches), and a new Lidl supermarket.
We found it a very convenient place to stock up on the last minute Lidl bargain wines (OK, I know, cheap and cheerful, rather than 'gourmet') which we enjoy quaffing. From €1.49 a bottle, Prosecco at €3.99 and Cotes de Rhone Vielle Vignes at €1.99 whats not to like!

I tend to plan to do a grocery shop close to the campsite the morning of my return leg via the tunnel, however, this pit stop sounds great!

A thing to be aware of with this Lidl is that sometimes the height barrier is closed, we have had to walk over from the Intermarche car park when the barrier is closed. Marquise is a great place to stock up onthe way to Calais, there is also an Aldi and Carrefour there

Yes, noticed the barrier, but it's not a long walk from Intermarche, and there seemed to be plenty of places for caravan parking. Hopefully people will find it a useful stop off, with lots of shopping opportunities in the same small area.

This sounds a good idea Val. We usually go to the Auchan at Coquelles when travelling via Calais/tunnel. However, there are always a few people hanging around, looking for opportunities I guess. This sounds as if it might be safer.

It felt VERY safe, which is why I posted it. Didn't see anyone suspicious at all. And it's very near to the autoroute exit.
