If you're coming over to France in the next few days, unless you're Ok with very hot weather you be best advised to stay close to the N coast.

Where we live - Dordogne - forecast to reach 41c on Tuesday before dropping to seasonal norm ie high 20's on Thursday. Hottest June by far we've known since we moved out here almost 7 years ago.

Same temps forecast for the Loire

Currently sat outside in T shirt and shorts having a cold beer or two with temperature still a good 23c after midnight.

Yeah, we’re on the south coast not far from Nice and it has been pretty much relentless since we arrived last Friday and forecasted to be over 30deg daily for the foreseeable future.

Not going to Mainland Europe this year, however, apparently the UK will be getting a heatwave soon with temperatures as high as mid 30s!

Good job I am travelling up north soon which will be cooler by a few degrees!

During the heatwave in August 2022, the daytime temperature was close to 30degC and I struggled to stay outside even in the shade. Good job for air con in the van!

I can do cold, however, I cannot tolerate the heat. Hence I decided to stay in the UK when I came here to study in 1979!

Been to southern end of northern France (if that makes any sense!), Le Mans to be precise, a few years back, when the air temps hit mid 30's, and ground surface temps were well into the 40's, and that was an experience, it may not be that far south, but a hell of a contrast to anything in the UK! There is an intensity to the sun as you go south, that never occurs in UK.

Literally watched people 'char' before our very eyes in the midday sun, then collapse with sunburn and heatstroke (English people of course! - Continentals had more sense!). We were luckily in the shade of an open grandstand with a pleasant breeze passing through for the fiercest part of the day, but still close to 'too hot' for us!

Glad I'm at home, and if it all gets too much, I'll stay indoors with the A/C! Never been a great lover of excess heat!

Good luck to anyone on their Hols.

Even of the north coast of Brittany, temperatures in the region of 37°C are forecast. Sites are busy (many are full), likewise aires near the sea.

Find somewhere with shade and a pool or access to water such as the sea or a lake.

I returned from from France, and spent most of the time we were in the Loir Valley on a guided tour. The temps reached the mid 30's majority of the time.   I loved it, however those who were older did not enjoy the best and tried to find share to walk in.

We were over there at the end of June - while it’s probably helped us on the hotter days since back home, when temperatures hit mid 20s by 9am it unfortunately means we can’t do much of anything. We were lucky to be on a shady pitch at Port de Limeuil, and their pool is divine but then curtailed plans to go to the Loire as we know how oppressive the heat can be there.
We headed for the Manche coast of Normandy and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh breeze on the lovely beaches, albeit many businesses were closed for a week’s break prior to the start of the busy season !

Temperatures for the Sarlat area in the Dordogne forecast to reach 44c on Monday after 39 Friday, 40 Saturday, 41 Sunday and then getting to 30 a week on Saturday.

Highest temperatures I've ever encountered in France - lived here for 7 years and camped here in 2003!

(and most years from 1981 to 2017 - rented mobiles or own tent).

We didn't do our usual France trip this year as I was waiting for some medical test results .( Grr Local hospital being really slow ). Made getting insurance difficult.
We had a couple of weeks in Dorset and had really nice weather followed by
a week nearer home where it was very warm!
It looks like we are about to get another warm spell up to 30 ish!
As it's school holidays our van is in store but there are plenty of nice places locally. Our bbq has been busy this summer!
We have had 53 days in the van since March and have been lucky with weather, not too much rain!
Hopefully no one affected by the wildfires in South of France.
Be safe everyone.

Still a fair bit of France on red alert for heatwaves - lasting through to the weekend,

Normandy, Brittany and the Vendee seem to be the best bets if you're averse to temperatures over the mid 30's.

We are in Vendée, it's been a pretty hot few days here with temps up to 39c.

Glad to say it is back down to a more comfortable mid 20s now, it certainly made us think about getting a compressor coolbox in the future though, our caravan fridge was a complete waste of time.

We are due to arrive in France on the 25th, just in time for what appears to be widespread rain for 7 or 8 days! Might just postpone the trip for a week or so, the beauty of retirement and flexible ferry tickets.
