just a quick heads up for those of you in france or arriving soon, Friday 15th is a public holiday, most supermarkets will be closing around 12.30.
Not in this neck of the woods (Dordogne to S of Sarlat).
LeClerc and Carrefour in Sarlat both open all day - even the Carrefour Contact in our nearby village will be open.
Not that I would plan to go to EU in August, however, thanks for the heads up.
I normally check local holidays as part of my recce for an EU trip, to plan for when to arrange the return worm treatment for the dog, and a grocery shop in France before heading home.

How times have changed!
Doesn't seem long since supermarkets were closed all day on Sundays, and had a 2 hour dinner break through the week.
We were caught out a couple of times by that!

Indeed! When I was planning for my trip to France in 2023, I was surprised to find supermarkets partially opened on Sundays!

Bit like church going - 20 years ago at the entrance to just about every village there used to be a cross inscribed with "heures des messes" and the times of services - often 3 a day. Rare as hens teeth these days.
