I thought I'd give a toll tag this year to stop leaning out of the window or banging the door and to avoid potential queues!
Rolled up to the first toll barrier and it didnt open. Ended up getting a ticket and paying at the end.
2nd try I moved the tag to a different area on the windscreen nothing again. I waved it around for a good 5 minutes outside the car and still nothing.
Am I doing something wrong?! Has anyone got any advice?

There's no point me sending it back to get a replacement now half way through our holiday.
Did you check your account online to make sure the tag was activated?

I don’t know where you are in France but there are “tag” offices throughout the country and even if you didn’t buy one from that particular supplier I’m sure they would test it if you asked nicely. At least that way you wouldn’t have to waste any more time waving it about 😀
I have an account online. There is nothing to say about activating it afterwards. I'm in the Dordogne at the moment near Sarlat. I'll have a look if there are any toll tag offices near by. 👍🏻

Have quick look at this thread from 2022 re: using the bar code on the tag.

I didn't say about you activating it, does it show that it's active. If it does then it will probably have a duff battery.

We have an ATMB tag and we have found that you have to get very close to the barrier before it activates. The first time we used it we didn't realise and bought a ticket. Just keep an eye on your account to check that you don't get charged for using it when you've also bought a ticket. That happened to us, but I sent them an email explaining and they reimbursed us. It was some years ago though.

We reversed backwards and forwards a few times at a really slow speed. I'll look on my account to double check we've not been charged👍🏻
My account is active with a subscriber number and I've already paid the set up fee.
It sounds like the battery is not working which is disappointing as I only got it this year!
I'll send it back for a replacement and to try again next year.
