Friends from NL visited while they were in UK recently and we talked about me returning to NL to pay them a visit.
Last year I visited them as part of FR and NL trip, camped overnight in my van parked around the corner from their house.
Next year's EU trip has already been planned for FR and DE, just need to wait for campsites to start taking bookings.
So out came the phone and diary, earmarked 3 weeks from mid June to early July 2027 for an EU trip.
Later in the evening, I spent a few hours planning the route and researched for sites etc.:
Home > overnight near Folkestone > NL in Haaren > DE near Cologne > FR near Strasbourg > overnight FR north of Reims > Home
6 nights at each main site.
The site in NL is only 2.5km from their house and I can walk back after having lots of yummy food and drink, result!
Something to look forward to in 2027!

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

Blimey DK! I like to plan, but 2 years ahead, that's SERIOUS planning!
Mind you, at my age, 2 years time may by some be regarded as being just too optimistic!

Think I've gone the other way (no NOT in 'that' way! ), made a booking only days before arrival for my recent stay in the Lake District! .... next thing you know, I'll be turning up on spec! .... well, maybe not, that would be going against my natural instincts, I like a degree of certainty and the peace of mind it brings!

Last few trips to Europe, we've booked what we can as early as we can (6-8 months in advance), but certain aspects seem to have been in a fog of uncertainty due to never being sure what Eurolegislation (the long running Saga of ETIAS/EES for one!) would be in place at time of travel! We've survived OK, but it certainly hasn't allowed early planning/booking to remove all the doubts!

Just in case two years ahead really is too optimistic for me, I wish you a good trip in 2027 DK

Thanks Monty!

They are more than 10 years younger than me and still in their working prime, and quite difficult to pin down unless events are planned well in advance.
