There was a report on the BBC news this morning, with a reporter being registered, I think he was at Eurostar, and comments from Simon Calder. Apparently they are starting soon with coach passengers and lorry drivers, then gradually working their way through other passengers. It seemed quite straightforward, just takes a few minutes. They said that if the queues got full they would wave folk through until next time.

The tittle-tattle scandal mongering on-line 'newspapers' are busy en-masse trying to alarm Motorhome and Caravan owners with dire warning of changes of motoring laws, implying UK laws, in the lying headlines! - Of course, it's no such thing, it's the EU traveller wide ETIAS start up from 12th Oct, being gradually introduced over next 12 months.
This has been on the cards for must be near a decade by now, with countless false start dates published and rescinded, remains to be seen if 12th Oct 2025 really is the start!
It's no big deal as far as I can see, just one step up from stamping passports 'in' and 'out' of the EU.
EES is the entry/exit system, the process of supplying biometric info when you enter the Schengen zone for the first time and will result in not having to have your passport stamped in future trips.
ETIAS is coming in late 2026 and is an electronic visa system (cost apparently will be €20 per person (between 18-70 years old).

It’s a very big deal compared with what we had which was a wave of a closed passport & stay as long as you like & live there if you wanted…

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
From what I can gather, Le Shuttle/Eurotunnel at Folkstone is better equipped in readiness for the system to go live compared with Dover as the former had more space to install the equipment required.
Yes it is an added faff, however, channel crossing by ferry and tunnel have had it easy compared with air travel IMHO.
Not going to EU until June 2026 and I hope the nuclear fallout would have subsided by then.

Think the problem with EES is that summer tourists that go to Europe every year will be hit with the same massive queue every three years because that's how often new biometric data needs to be given.
