We are at Camping Cortigo san Miguel in Nerja. On Tuesday the weathers was so bad that at 5pm the owners came round told us we had to evacuate the site. They were told by the council that it was due to very bad weather coming in. We packed up the awning and everything else and had to make our way to the back of Lidl. We spent 3 nights there and arrived back on site today. The good thing about it was the way everyone worked together and helped each other. The weather is supposed to be improving in the next few days.
Well done you two, You are very independent. Stay safe . All good wishes to you.
That’s two years in a row of bad winters in much of Spain . Everyone else should take note and in future fly far further than Spain if they want winter sun.
Glad to hear you are back at home where the weather is not as wet as Nerja!
I do not go out in the van in January and February due to potential risks of being stuck and not being able to come home in the event of bad weather.
Also, both the dog and I do not like getting wet!

How much are flying caravans / motorhomes?
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!

We are not home but back on the site. Our ferry is on 7th march and arrived Portsmouth on 8th.
Goodness, this sounds like a really stressful experience. I hope the rest of your holiday goes well and you get some better weather over the next few weeks.

It could have been a lot more stressful if it hadn’t have been for all the help offered and given by the other people. It just goes to show that people can work together as we have all nationalities here. Even when we returned to the site everyone chipped in to help with everything including the awning.
Had to have a look and see where Nerja was - glad that know that everyone mucked in together to help out. Hope the weather improves for the rest of your stay.
The weather has been very good these last couple of days. It has been windy with temperature up to 22. Looking at the weather forecast in our final couple of weeks looks good.
Glad you all got through it with not to much damage. We have friends on a site in Castillo de Banos and the said 43 tree had been felled by the wind and a couple of cars and caravans destroyed.
We are in Portugal on a site near Moncarapacho. Arrived here on 23rd Dec 25 and have had seven weeks of rain and storms. Somehow our awning survived 60mph winds in one of the storms. Another storm came and it rained for 36 hours non stop and often torrential. However as you say the last couple of weeks have been lovely and hopefully stay that way until we get the ferry back on the 14th March.

We did manage to survive, the rain found ways of coming into the Van through the front windows and front skylight. Luckily we managed to stop a lot of it. The problem is only 5 months old, I have contacted the dealership and it is booked in for the 12/03/2026. The weather forecast looks pretty good until we get home on the 8/3/26.
