Hi, we're planning a trip to the south of France in October and I'd like any recommendations for sites in the Gorges de Verdon area please. Currently Camping St Jean seems most suitable. We like quiet sites, don't mind out of the way places and love water fun. There is also the dog. Thanks

The UKCS site directory in the Site Search shows 4 sites within 5 miles of the Gorges. Few reviews posted for them, but you could cross check by looking at the sites’ reviews & helpful photos on google maps.

We stayed at the Camping Galetas or the Camping Verdon Canyon in the summer a few years ago. They are just across the road and large field to the "Verdon Canoe Hire" and the small Galetas beach.
According to Google Maps, Camping Galetas is temporarily closed (today is the 1st Octobrr 2026)
I cant remember much about the site except it is close to the canyon and we hired a canoe and paddled as far up the canyon as the canoes and pedallos are allowed.

The OP might not come back for a while: they posted in 2016 about a site near Paris, then posted nothing for 10 years until this query. However, the information might be useful to others too.

Unfortunately no reviews on UKCS, but it does score 3.6 out of 5 on Google which is not great.

One review a month ago stated closed due to "compliance with regulations" take out of that what you will.
