Just got back from Les Tours 2 weeks ago!! We loved it although we didn;t have any children with us. We found the site quiet on a night and the kids there all seemed to be having a great time. The pool and rapids and slides are good and the lake is great for pedalos windsurfers and sailing and there is a motorboat the hire. The takeaway and the resataurant we good and the shop is also good which is a bonus as it is least 5 miles to the nearest shop in St Amans des cots. There seemed to be plenty going on for younger children kids clubs, zip wires through the trees etc etc. I would imagine there is not much going on for teenagers though.
The Aveyron area is absolutley beautiful it is worth a trip to Rodez ( the capital of the area) and a number of "beautiful villages of France" are nearby eg Espallion, Estaing etc and they are really stunning. One word of warning. St Aman is miles from anywhere and the site is 5 miles beyond that. It takes a long time to get anywhere because of the windy roads and the lake of dual carrigeways in the area. It took us 5 hours to do 120 miles! although we were towing a caravan the windy roads do slow you down!
Anyway all in all it was an area we would definately return to and the site is superb and pristine and the pitches were huge. Eurocamp have tents and mobile homes there and there are a number of french mobile home companys. It is not an all singing and dancing Eurocamp site but I would cetainly recommend it for younger families or couples on their own as it was so relaxing and peaceful.!
We're also thinking about Les Tours for next year...
What's the weather like in that part of France?
Would it be worthwhile lugging my canoe all the way there? - I understand that the site sits next to the river.
I echo the views of Caroline, it is in a stunning location, and has a super atmosphere, the free tree climbing and zip wire across part of the lake are great fun,
They had two mad entertainers there and there signature tune to round of was Rasputin acommpanied by this bizzare dance (had to be there I guess!)
The weather can change quickly due to its location but by and large its good.
Take your canoe and fishing gear, the site overlooks a 23 acre lake and its nice and warm.
Very rural location but brilliant site, I might even go again next year.
Long tortuous drive over very steep roads, my caravan brakes got so hot the plastic covers on the wheel nuts started to melt!

well did anyone go to les tours this year ,as i am looking at this area for a change from brittany and the vendee, if so would like to hear about sites and area , many thanks
We went to Les Tours three years ago and thought the site was lovely and the setting was beautiful. We went to a beautiful town which I can;t remember the name off which involved going down some hair pin bends and we canoed down rapids there. However much as we enjoyed the site and area our two teenagers did not and were quickly bored. It is somewhere we intend to return when we are teenager free!!

I have never taken and would never take my daughter on holiday with us since she was 16! She likes beaches in tenerife ( our idea of hell) we like walking and cycling and scenery and never the twain shall meet!! I had enough sulky holidays to last me a lifetime!
We went to Les Tours in 2004. As said already it is a beautiful site in a stunning area but, and for us it was a huge but, if the weather is not on your side there is very little to do in the near vicinity and the roads in the area are not the best. I think we were very unlucky with the weather that year, despite it being August, and ended up leaving the campsite early, but spectacular scenery can lose it's appeal very quickly in constant rain and temperatures of 3 degrees in the morning (we were in a tent that year). Had we been in our caravan we might have felt differently but by the time we left it felt like escaping from jail.
