We went to camping du Jard last summer with two children 8 and 11, we all had a really good time. Such a good time that we are going back again this year.
A really nice pool and play area kept ours happy. The beach is about 1/2 hour walk at the most, depends how fast you walk and quite a few shops and bars within walking distance.
There is a bar on site that has entertainment most nights, but we just tend to stay around the camper.
Met a nice guy last year who said he was on his forth visit as they liked it so much.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did if you end up going.
We have been to the Vendee a few time now- never camped at Tranche sur Mer but one of our favourite beaches especially if you go up the far end on the road towards Jard sur mer. We parked on the main road and just went up a small lane and found the beach. The town is quite lively in the evenings. Try the Chi Chis- like dohnuts but they look like chips in a cornet!
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Small word of advice - I was at Du Jard at the end of August and suffered quite badly with Mosquitos. Loved the site though.
With regard to mossies I don't find that the Ultra-Violet devices work that well. Get a plug in unit that accepts the replaceable "tabs" or fluid based onces that can be refilled.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
