We went to the Albret Plage next door in 2003. The Vieux Port looked great & we heard good things about it. We're considering it for this year too, as our son is older now & likes having a pool and plenty of British kids around.
I hope you don't mind me asking but how old do the kids clubs go up to? Are they all that popular with teenagers? Just asking, as mine's 13 and usually manages well enough without. Just as well really, as we're dyed in the wool freecampers and have always booked direct (if we book at all!). Might consider a change if there was something energetic provided for the 12-16 age group. Very energetic, where mums are banned! <VBEG>
We are going with Eurocamp Independent although you can get it cheaper with the site, ( they also run there own kids clubs) we are wanting the splendid kids clubs provided by Keycamp/Eurocamp, The kids are entertained 2and a half hours in the morning and 2 and a half hours in the afternoon, there are 4 clubs from ages 4+, 7+ ,10+ and 13+ and they are brilliant, they take em quading , horseriding, adventure climbing, karting etc small entrance fee payable, but excellent value.
Have a look at a Keycamp/Eurocamp Brochure or Eurocamp Independent for more info
We went to Bonne Anse Plage last year we all had a fantastic time. the kids made dozens of friends of all nationallities via the kids clubs, and still they are e mailing each other.
Thanks Garry, that sounds brill! I'll run it past the "decision makers" and see what they say.
It's amazing how all these kids email each other, isn't it. Mine's been practising his German with 2 Swiss boys he met. They get on MSN and the older Swiss boy helps the 2 littlies communicate. Not that they say anything fascinating...

We went there in August '05; it's fantastic. It is big and busy. Beech beside site is huge and beautiful and safe (lifeguards and even a helipad!). Road train handy too.
Take a tarp to protect your outfit from above!! They have pine cones as heavy as big spuds falling from tress so tall you can't see the top, and squirrel business too.
Atleast one bike is handy too as some pitches are about 20 minute walk from the shop.
The Beyonne Fete is worth a trip, its 3rd 7th Aug; don't know if you're there then. The locals ALL dress in white or red and white, so go prepared if you want to blend in.
Mountain railway at La Rhune (breathtaking views) near spanish border is worth a trip, especially if you call in St Jean De Luz (lovely town,+ ladies will like clothes shops!) on way back. Go early though as queue gets big late morning.
There isn't much to see in the very near vicinity of the site; it's basically big long straight roads on a LOT of pine trees.
Booked our week here with Keycamp. Nice site close to beach, but as we expected was very busy. Our Mobile Home was excellent with a balcony, but the space we had was minimal. A lot of shading by trees meant we were not in direct sunlight, which was an advantage to a certain extent! Bike hire was reasonably cheap. Excellent facilities on site. Our two daughters, aged 13 and 11 really enjoyed the 'Base' club abd club for 10 - 12 year olds. Key camp staff very helpful. Worth a visit to Vieux Boucou - nice beach, shops and restaurants.
