We are thinking of renting a mobil home in the Cote d'Azur or Provence area.We don't know the area at all and have to go in August. Can anyone recommend any sites that are suitable for teenagers but not too noisy at night.Has anyone been to Green Park or Esterel Camping, as they sound o.k..Are you able to move around the area at all in August, or is it just too busy. All advice most welcome.
Thanks

I have been at La Valee du Paradis, I could recommend it. Others have been at Esterel, they might help.
Since we love nice long white beaches, we used to take the car on a daily basis and travel to St Aygulf and St Maxime. There were excellent campings along the road.
"Etoile d'Argens" nr. Frejus is really nice... It's situated about 3 or 4 km. from St. Raphael, which is Ideal for exploring the Cote d'Azur by train... The site has a water bus which 'chugs' back and forth between the beach at Frejus Plage and the campsite, which sits on the banks of the River Argens... It has nice Bar/Clubhouse & Restaurants too...
Another site is "Prairies de la Mer" on the coast road, between Ste. Maxime and Port Grimaud... The road, which seperates the site and the beach, can get a bit hectic due to traffic going to St. Tropez (which is just across the bay)...
A little quieter, but only a couple of kilometres from the beach is "Camping La Beaumette" in Ste. Maxime... This is a lovely 'family orientated' town and my personal favourite. It faces St. Tropez, but unlike it's illustrious neighbour, is south facing... Ste. Maxime has day & evening markets and a lovely 'family friendly' beach... The bars and restaurants are quiet and friendly, and not too expensive...
Enjoy your holiday, it's a lovely part of the world!...
Yeah the Prairies de la Mer are like a town, and Port Grimaud is just gorgeus: it's practically an artificial Venice. When I saw the depliant, I was scared by its size, I thought it was going to be like chaos. But, when we visited it, we thought it was extremely nice: there's everything to keep young folks busy and the surrounds are fantastic.

which is in Frejus, midway between Cannes and St Tropez.excellent for teenagers as it has a nightclub which is soundproofed !!! and well away from the mobiles, have a look at the site and see what you think.
would you be flying or driving?if you need any info just ask
I thoroughly recommend Les Tournels in Ramatuelle. We stayed there 2 years running when our 3 were 11, 13 and 15.. However, it is a very French site which might inhibit teenagers who don`t speak any French. It has family entertainment early evening then a prohibition on noise later. However, it has a beech bar/nightclub attached which caters for those old enough (or young enough depending on your point of view) to want to party till the early hours. The part of the site right next this remains noisier than ideal. It has a super pool complex, and direct, although quite a walk, access to the beech.
We looked around Esterel and agreed we might stay there one year. The wild boar come to the edge of the site to eat which is a bonus if your kids like animals. The pool looked good and they appeared to have evening entertainment and more English speaking clients than Les Tournels.
The whole area is very busy in August, if you want to drive along the coast between St Maxim and St Tropez, do it early morning or expect to sit in traffic jams. However, whilst in such jams the scenery is interesting, at least as far as teenage boys are concerned lol.
I Can't think of a site in the area, that isn't suitable for teenagers... All the sites seem to have a large contingent of 'teens', who spend the evening/night posing, preening and flirting with each other (they're hilarious to watch)...
There's plenty to do, on the site, the beach and in town St. Raphael/Frejus... Don't worry about being 'foreign', there are French (of course!) British, German, Dutch, Scandinavians, Italians etc. etc... And you've guessed it, they nearly all speak perfect English and are only to happy to 'show off' their linguistic skills (apart from the British, that is!)... Your 'teens' (boys and/or girls) will love it!...
ive been going to the cote d'azur for the last 5 years on holidays.
ive also worked as a courier on La Baume campsite for the last 3 years, and plan to return this summer. Have stayed on Esterel, Douce Quietude and La Baume. All really good. La Baume defnitely the best for teenagers. Though the other two great too.
The area is great - love St Raphael/Frejus and also lived in Nice for a year, and worked in Menton(up at the italian border).
La Baume is very large and lively - but most of the pitches are away from the noise of the bars/disco/entertainment. The other to sites were smaller , but also had good entertainment at nights. I was on hols on Esterel and Douce as a 17/18 year old and had a great time. Personally, i prefer La Baume though. My family still go every year (and even my 18yr old brother still goes).

The coast road from St Maxim to St Tropez is certainly an experience for young and old but as CaravanSkier says it can be busy not only in August but from June to Septenber!!! I well remember my first visit it Port Grimaud in 1992. We decided to visit the supermarket at Grimaud which is a bit inland. On the way back I nearly ended up in a ditch!! Coming towards me was a moped with boyfriend and girlfriend. Girlfriend was in front and was starkers to the waist! One of my fondest and comical memories of the South of France!
Thanks for the information. I think my 16 year old son will certainly enjoy the views, but I don't like the idea of having to sit in traffic jams for along time. Just wish we could go to France in June or July, roll on retirement.

I was on cote d'azur on last week of june and first week of july. I can tell you that the jams along the sea road near st maxime are almost constant. I think it has to do with the fact that the highway exit of Frejus is very comfortable for those traveling to all destinations around St Maxime, and there is only one road (the sea road, I think it's N98) which comes across all these centers: many roundabouts and a few traffic lights probably help doing the trick.
But, I must add, it's never been a real problem. If you get caught in a jam you won't get stuck in forever. These jams are somewhat more fluid than a typical metropolitan jam, and the sight is very different too. You will actually have time to appreciate the details of small beaches and villas scattered along the road.
Also, there are several boats riding to St Tropez and I recommend using these rather than taking your own car.
