Hi,

We are off to Northern France soon, taking our dog for the first time(pet passport at the ready) has anyone travelled from France and into Belgium with their dog, if so is it fairly straightforward.  We are not sure if the dog has to be 'declared' when you go over the border.  We will be asking our vet but thought would try on UKCS first.

Cheers

Stevey H

There is no real border between France and Belgium. So, there's no problem there!

Markus is quite right.

The only place that your dog's paperwork will be checked is either entering Switzerland, or when you check in for your ferry or tunnel to return to the UK.

Don't worry.  It all works like clockwork.  We have used the system since it's inception about six years ago.  We've had our dogs with us in Austria twice this year already.

You will find that your dog is welcome in restaurants and hotels (well behaved I hope), unlike here in the UK.  Ours sit quietly under the table while we have our meal.  The only surprised faces when they come out are British !!

Enjoy yourselves.

Michael

Driving from France, it's quite hard to tell you are even *in* Belgium!  No customs posts any more. You just suddenly begin to notice that the style of the road signs is a bit different...

Thanks for all the info, we will head from our site near St.Omer up to Brugges with a lot more confidence now.

Cheers
