At the minute I am looking at landbridge prices for my new motorhome - hopefully it will arrive in the next 10 days!
The motorhome is 7.5 metres long and 3 metres high. The best I can find at the minute (convenience balanced with price) is with Irish Ferries.
On the way to France using Dublin --> Holyhead and Poole --> Cherbourg, the price will be €442 (300+36+40+55+12) or about £310. It will be slightly more expensive on the way home.
I have used Portsmouth --> St Malo before. This is a much more convveient crossing to France, but rather than paying for a cabin on this boat, I'm going to sleep on the docks at Poole and catch the early morning boat.
Any thoughts or better alternatives - remember, I'm not in a car!!!!

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Have you seen the Norse Merchant ones? http://www.norsemerchant.com/index.asp You have to travel to Dunkerque in France but depending where you are going in France it may be worthwhile.

Thanks, but a bit too far north. We go to the Southern Vendee.
Their crossing from Belfast to Liverpool is good though, as I have done it in a car before.

Jim, Have you looked at Celtic Link Ferries - they took over the P&O freight route from Rosslare - Cherbourg. I didnt find out about them until after Id booked with NorseMerchant (now Norfolkline!). I used this route often when it was P&O and can highly recommend it, no discos, boutiques, or casinos and the food, which is included in the price is great truckers fare! Sails at about 1800, 3 times a week, arrives at approx 1600 next day. Good luck with your new 'Truck'!!
Great to see Ulster at the top of the Celtic League!!!
We got the Apache 700 (basically same size as your new van) across Cork to Roscoff for £700.00 return in the middle of July. Leave Cork on Saturday afternoon, arrive Roscoff early Sunday. You could be in the Vendee for tea on Sunday
Boats are 400 Euro each way - our kids are smaller, so we got one 4 berth cabin, which was 144 Euro each way. They always up the price for the first week in July, cos all of ireland is trying to get on. We are going on 22/07 and returning on 18/08.
Last year we went Larne Cairnryan and Dover Calais - total was about £340.00 return. I could justify the extra £360.00 to go Cork to Roscoff, but if I had to pay 2000 euro I think I would go Larne Cairnryan again. The sailings are short and regular and you can drive Cairnryan - Dover overnight, so if you both drive you can make it to Paris for brekkie on Saturday
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
