Saxoann,  when we drove to Lake Guarda, we drove out via Austria and the Brenner pass, and came back via Switzerland, which started a love affair with Camping Jungfrau at Lauterbrunnen.

We still do not know exactly what we are doing last week July & first week August this year.  The plan was to go to Sud Tirol (northern Italy) for two weeks,  but we have not booked anything yet.  In 4 weeks we are off to our house in Austria for 12 days, and plan to pop over the Brenner into Sud Tirol, to have a look at campsites, and book one then.

However, last night I had a chat with some Dutch friends, who want to go to Sud Tirol for about 5 days, then Austria for 5 days, and so we may meet up with them.

It is driving me mad though.  I want to get a holiday arranged.  NOW.

By the way, we are trying Hull/Rotterdam for the first time in 4 weeks for our trip to Austria.  They have kennels on that ferry for our dogs.  Have always done Dover/Calais in the past, as many as 4 times per year (have driven our to Austria twice this year already for skiing).

How long would you say it would take you to drive to garda from zeebrugge?  Were driving through switzerland

I would have one overnight stop both on the way there and back.  Don't forget you need a vignette for both car and caravan to drive through Switzerland.  You can save time at customs by purchasing them before you go, from here
