Blimey that is good. Glad the dates are after we get back from hols else I would be kicking myself for just booking Norfolk Lines from Dover despite living near the South Coast!!
Here is a portion of a post from a contributer on another forum who had used LD Lines .
"Yes it was cheap but not only do you get what you pay for but more. The lack of cabins, the noisy engine room and the badly maintained rails on the lower passenger aft deck starboard quarter. (one corner had upright rails missing and was repaired by running string across the gap!! imagine kids wanting to play with that whislt your back is turned!!)
Now for my biggest complaint by far. The area outside the mens toilets. Not only did that whole area of the deck smell of urine it was dried urine. As a plumber you get to tell the diference between stale dried in urine and what's been sitting as a recent accident and this was old, dry, punget and throat wrenching dried in urine. ................................>
..................................Do your homework if you intend on using this carrier. I won't need to cause I won't be using them again, ever!"

We've just got back from the UK this week using LD Lines. My impressions as a seasoned channel traveller were that the crew were very helpful. Nothing too much trouble. The ship however was too small. Only 40 or so cabins on board, so be warned. You MUST book a cabin online for the crossing to France. There's no chance of getting one once you're on the ship.
Other than that, we found the toilets were great, the cafe reasonable and good service and HUGE portions. Prices were good, but there wasn't a big choice in the shop. Recommended for a cheap-ish crossing for a short break if you don't fancy driving too far on our side of the ditch.
i looked at LD lines, £297.00 for 4 of us, and it's an overnight crossing and they had no cabins left for the outward journey, so that means sitting in a seat all night!!
i've booked newhaven/dieppe, £157.00 for 4 people. we're not taking the caravan, but it was only £250.00 if you wanted to! that's the best price i've found!
I've just booked Dover/Calais with car and caravan through the Caravan Club. Outward 26 August, home 10 September - £166.50 through their Special Offers. Fourteen camping cheques at £144.20 makes the total cost £310.70 - not bad for a two week holiday - in what in England would be peak season!
